House renovation dilemma
I really would love to have an oriental type of house, with a touch of the 4 elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Although modern houses are great, I prefer staying at a place where it is calm and cozy.
Unfortunately, the house wherein we are currently staying was an inherited property from my late father and mother-in-law. It is a 64sq.meter lot with a 2 storey old house on it. I think this was built in late 80’s and because of that, the foundations of the house is now slightly ruined. When my husband and I are still dating we haven’t thought of buying a new house before getting married. Actually we didn’t planned to get married at an early age last year 2004 ( I was just 23 years old then, and he was 27) but due to some unavoidable reasons, we need to be married that year (no, I was not pregnant at that time!). We don’t have any savings back then, my father-in-law gave us some of his life time savings for the wedding.
Young at heart we were very excited for our wedding. We invited all the people we knew: close friends, relatives, old colleagues and even those who are not. After celebration ended, and we are already facing how hard it is to have a married life, we have realized that we shouldn’t have spent all the money for our wedding. We should have just come up with a simplier one and just invited only those who are really close to us. We should have just used the money his father gave us for a small invesment or business so that by now, we will financially stable.
I have to tell you this, because sometimes in our lives there are situations that we wish we haven’t done, but it is through these mistakes that we will learned our lessons. That’s why now my husband and I are wiser in spending our hard earned money. We had so many credit cards back then and it came a time when we can no longer pay debts due to financial crisis but now we are doing our best to be debt free.
Back on the topic, it’s already been weeks since I keep on thinking how are we going to renovate our old house. The rain is already starting to fall in our room upstairs because the wood supporting the roof already has termites on it. And that’s just the bedroom, the kitchen and bathroom also need repairs. It sounds bad, isn’t it? Because of that, we can’t decide which part of the house we will be repairing first, since we don’t have enough money to renovate the whole house at once. I think we really need some professional advice, I hope they will not ask for a very high professional fee. I really hope we can finish fixing our house before the next rainy season comes again.
I’ve searched some celebrities houses that I want and wish to incorporate in our house someday.
this is from Ara Mina’s house- I love the window and the chandelier here. It is very eco-friendly since air and light passes through the area.
this is Boy Abunda’s bathroom- I like the accesories, though It would be better if the color is lighter. Anyway, red color may represents the fire element.
this picture was taken from Bianca Gonzales room – do you still remember the show “At Home Ka Dito”, hosted by Charlene Gonzalez, they are the one who did the makeover at Bianca’s room.
What I love here was the bamboo headboard, it’s gives the feeling of being close to nature. But, I think I like it more if the paint in the wall was light yellow or beige.
this was taken from Ai-Ai delas Alas “super sosyal” home- although I love the fountain, I don’t think I can put one as big as this outside our house. An indoor miniature type will do.
this was LJ Reyes dining area- what I love here was the Groto and the color scheme of the whole place.
Wow, this side garden of Christopher de leon is really great, this was what I am looking for almost a week in the web. I love the see through polycarbonate roofing, you can entertain guest here rain or shine.
Seeing these houses, makes me more excited. I really wish we had enough savings to cover the house renovation expenses. (sigh!)
