You haven’t lived in vain

Perhaps you feel you’ve lived in vain,
That you have failed somehow –

But if you’ve touched one human heart
Or kept one solemn vow,
Or brought to one sad stricken soul
The hope to live again,

Why, then, no matter how you feel,
You haven’t lived in vain.
