Heading off on holiday? Don’t forget to do these before you go!
It’s that time of year again! We’re already looking forward to the Summer and a well-earned vacation with our family. Or maybe just a romantic break with our partner for some much needed “grown-up” time. You might have a particular destination in mind, one to you travel to every year, or maybe you’re open to trying somewhere completely new for a change. Well, wherever you decide to go, making sure you pre-holiday stress doesn’t increase too much is an absolute must!
And by pre-holiday stress, we mean remembering all those little jobs you need to have done and all those important things you need to remember. So, with that in mind, we’ve put together this super simple checklist of things that you might need to remember to do before you jet off on holiday.
Enjoy!
Make sure your house is secure.
Heading off on holiday means more than just making sure the front door is locked. If you’re heading away for a while, invest in some new signage – check out myparkingsign for a little inspiration – like CCTV in operation or this property is alarmed etc, which will give your home a little security boost. Make sure that all your doors and windows lock securely! And let your neighbours know (if you trust them) that you’ll be away for a while and your house will be empty.
Buying timers for your lights and TV are a good trick to make your home look occupied and remember to keep all your valuables out of sight and hidden away.
Your passport
We all dread the idea of turning up at Check-in and realising that we’ve forgotten our passports. But what’s even worse, is getting to Check-in and being told that your passport has expired! If you’re planning a holiday then check all the family passports now to make sure they will still be valid on the dates you intend to use them. Some countries require passports to be in date for at least 6 months before you fly, so make sure you do your research.
Tell your bank you’re going abroad
Let your bank know that you’re going to be heading abroad and you’re going to be withdrawing money or using your cards in a new destination. If you only use your card in your local area then your bank might become suspicious if it suddenly picks up on random transactions in a foreign country, which could lead to your cards being blocked. Let them know in good time!
Sort out pet care
Something many of us leave to the last minute! Arranging your pet care early means that it’s one less thing to worry about, and you might even get a discount if you book far enough in advance. Knowing that your furry friend is all taken care of means you can relax the moment you step off the plane! So, speak to a reputable kennel or see if a relative or friend can look after your furry family member while you’re away.
