How to clean up the dirties things from your kitchen
We all have them, even if we don’t consider them as being dirty. We use them all the time, for very long periods of time, you’d actually think twice about some of the items.
The dish washing sponge
Where should we start with this one?
Did you know that the washing sponge is considered to be the number one dirtiest thing from your kitchen? It’s full of bacteria and you should change it at least once a week.
And you cannot even sanitize it. Like, at all. Not even by using that microwave hack that would kill all the germs. This can actually make it worse, so stay away from it.
The salt and pepper shakers
This next question is very important: do you wash your salt and pepper shakers? You touch them every day, and they’re considered to be the most touched condiments from your kitchen, so have you ever washed them?
According to King of Maids, it’s not enough to just wash them by hand; it would be a good idea to put them in your dishwasher. Hot water (a temperature of 140 degrees) can sterilize them. And don’t forget about the outsides. Between washing, use some wet wipes to clean the outsides.
The kitchen handles
You should really keep in mind that you also have door handles and that they’re really full of bacteria, too. Don’t forget about the dishwasher, refrigerator, cabinets and pantry door handles, wash them too.
The cooking utensils
They can be washed by hand, but it would be a better idea to put them in the dishwasher, as well. The 140 degrees should do it, no matter then utensil, be it a spatula, a whisk, a tong or a wooden spoon. Wash them in the dishwasher at least once a month. If you have this option, use the sterilization setting.
The kitchen sink
It’s been said that a toilet bowl is cleaner than a kitchen sink. Do you want to know why? Because the dirty dishes which are left in the sink are a perfectly good place for bacteria to have a party. That’s why you need to wash it daily, with a solution of bleach and water. Also, try to not let dirty dishes in the sink overnight. Wash them as soon as you can.
The dish towel
Of all the things from your house, these are the dirtiest, we guarantee you that. When you’re cleaning your kitchen counters you are playing with bacteria everywhere. What you need to do it soak them in a dilution of bleach and water and you should do this after every use or at least once a week. To make things simpler, have a tower for each day of the week. Then wash them at the end of the week with hot water.
