Real Property Tax (Amelyar) Computation of Penalty
Having a Real Property or House and Lot comes with a lot of responsibilities. Besides the usual house renovation if you need one, some of the things you need to consider are having a fire insurance, get an anti-termites service and of course pay for your amelyar or real property tax yearly.
The amount of your amelyar or real property tax depends on the assessment of your property by the assessors office.
It is advisable to pay for your amelyar every beginning of the year because they usually offer at least 20% discount. But if a year’s tax is huge for your budget you have a choice to pay it quarterly.
NOW, if you forgot to pay your amelyar, the government will charge you a whooping 2% per month. That’s at least 24% per year. That’s huge!!!!
To give you an example, here’s our 2 year statement of account (2016-2017) in our property in Manila that I was not able to pay because I forgot.

That’s why I promised myself that I will never forget about this ever again. I’m glad that for this year I was able to save P700 naman because of the 20% discount. I paid around 14,000 for our 3 years amelyar waaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I suggest to always pay your taxes on time to avoid penalty.
