Organized or Messy Desk – Which is Better?

Okay this is my stand and I will fight for this till the end. I prefer an organized desk over a cluttered one, I can’t work on a messy desk.  I want everything to be in it’s proper places.  I am more productive in a well organized desk.  I can easily find what I am looking for if the papers and documents are in it’s proper file and area.  Before I start to work, I even wipe my desk with alcohol or wet tissue, that’s how a neat freak I am.  I even put a miniature plant besides my desk to have a touch of nature and for me to feel more relaxed. 

My office mates usually teased me of not doing anything because they can’t see papers at my desk.  To avoid being teased, I just put a few folders and some papers at the side of my desk during office hours and then put them back  to it’s proper places after wards.  But even though I added papers at my desk it still looks clean and organized.

I had an office mate that have a desk full of papers on it. I can’t imagine how she can work properly in a desk that has lots of paper on it, and I can’t even see the top of the table.  The ball pen and staplers are everywhere, and does someone really need more than 3 pieces of ball pen? If I was in charge of the office supplies I will not give you a new ball pen if you will not give back the empty one, so that people will be responsible to keep their ball pen always within themselves.

Back to that person, because of her cluttered desk I can’t even identify if she is still inside the building or already out since she usually leaves her table uncleaned.  One time I tried to clean it since my eyes ache every time I see her desk.  But, when I was about to clean it I saw a piece of cracker on her drawer that I think it’s already a month old and little cockroaches were already having a feast on it.  I screamed the hell out of me and made all the employees look at me.

I can’t say a thing since I don’t want to embarrass the one who is seating there, and I tell you that she is a fine and beautiful lady and most male employees adore her.  But as what they said, don’t just look at the physical beauty you must also give more priority to the inner beauty (which include her stuffs and drawer).  I thought she’ll get mad at me when I confronted her about the thing that I saw in her drawer but thankfully she is open minded and accept my suggestion, or maybe she was just afraid that I will tell every one her deep dark secret.

On the next day, I was shocked when I arrived because her table was already clean and well organized.  She even thanked me for opening her eyes and she said that she can work better in a clean desk like mine.
