Meralco gave a power-off notice 1 day before!

Ren and I were watching T.V. today when someone knocked at the door and gave a notice letter from Meralco.

Meralco said that they will implement a facility upgrading/maintenance project in our area tomorrow January 9 (SATURDAY). They also said that we will experience an electric service interruption from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (oh my goodness, that is so long!). After reading the letter, I then asked myself why is it that they gave a notice a day before the exact date of the electric service interruption? What if someone in the neighborhood where planning a baptismal reception or birthday party in the house?

Well, I don’t have problems with the upgrading because it is for our own sake, besides we can always go to the nearby mall if we feel uncomfortable in the house due to heat, but can’t they give a notice 2-3 days before the service interruption so that the people who have a plan of having a celebration at the house by that time will be more prepared? People can cancel the party earlier and have more time informing the guest and visitors not to come since it is uncomfortable to throw a party without sounds and electric fan (especially in our area). I don’t know if Meralco thought of that!

Are they really this late in giving notice? I think Maynilad does, but we can always save water a night before the interruption but an electricity, how can people do the saving?
