January Checklist on what chores and errands that we need to do

I know the feeling when you forgot to do something and regret it afterwards. As a mom, even though you are working or not, you are still in-charge to check for the things that are needed to be accomplished like paying for the real estate tax, car registration, fire insurance, kids requirements at school and my favorite- when and where to have a well deserved vacation.

Most of us handles our families finances and to avoid additional charges like penalties and interests, we need to be reminded on what to do and the right time to do it.

Here, I will give you some guidelines on what to do this January (I will also post February to December Check Lists on the next article). I based this on my Working Mom Magazine January 2011 issue.

JANUARY
1. Get Your
– Cedula (Community Tax Certificate)
– Business Permits

2. Pay Your
– Real Estate Taxes for the year, or for the first quarter (January-March) – the earlier you pay the bigger the discount you will get
– Homeowners/condo/club fees

3. Check Payment/ Expiry of your
– Medical/Health Insurance
– Driver’s License
– Car Insurance (needed for registration)
– Professional License from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)
– Fire Insurance for home/business/office
– Renewal of Safety Deposit Box rentals
– Bank time/Trust Deposits

4. Take Advantage of CLEARANCE SALES! Check and replace
– tablecloths, napkins, dining chair covers
– Christmas Decors
– bedding

5. Get your “Ready For Anything” Documents
– a set of ID Pictures (1×1, 2×2, passport size)
– Birth and Marriage Certificates (NSO Copy)

Regarding the NSO Copy of Birth and Marriage Certificate, you can easily get one online.

Personally, I prefer this kind of online service because it is so easy.  You can save more time from going to the NSO office, filling up the form, getting in queue, verifying the data, until paying to the cashier and then waiting for your name to be called for the releasing of the document will already take 3-5 hours of your time. Some even requires to go back the next day to be picked it up.
