Military Diet Menu Plan Review
Two weeks ago, I found out that my weight dropped from 66kg to 61kg in less than 3 months of proper diet and exercise. I was surprised to see that finally my hard work paid off. But my BMI computation tells me that I’m still overweight by 2-3kg.
I wanted to have a normal BMI, so I decided to try this famous Military Diet that promises you’ll lose weight up to 10lbs for 3 days even without exercise. I was curious to know if this is true.
I did some research and I saw that one of the reasons this diet works is because a meal for a day is consists of only 1,000-1,300 calories.
So,without further ado, here’s what I ate for 3 days, take note that I made some changes/substitute to some of the ingredients because they’re not available at the time I needed them.
DAY 1
Breakfast:
1 slice of Wholegrain toast with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter.
1/2 Grapefruit (I used orange)
1 cup of coffee or tea.
Lunch:
A slice of whole grain toast.
1/2 cup of Tuna.
1 cup of coffee or tea.
Dinner:
3-Oz (85 grams) serving of any meat
1 cup of green beans
1 small apple
1/2 banana
1 cup Vanilla ice cream (I don’t have, so I used Yoghurt)
DAY 2
Breakfast:
1 slice of toast (whole grain).
1 hard-boiled egg.
1/2 banana.
Lunch:
1 hard-boiled egg.
A cup of cottage cheese ( I don’t have cottage cheese, so I used Yoghurt)
5 saltine crackers.
Dinner:
2 hot dogs without bun.
1/2 cup of carrots and 1/2 cup of broccoli (I don’t have Brocolli, I used camote leaves)
Β½ banana.
1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream.
DAY 3
Breakfast:
1 slice of cheddar cheese.
5 saltine crackers.
A small apple.
Lunch:
1 slice of toast.
One egg (hard boiled or cooked according to your preference)
Dinner:
A cup of tuna.
1/2 banana.
1 cup of vanilla ice cream.
OVERVIEW:Β
I thought that since I am used to eating small amount of food everyday, doing this 3 days Military diet will be easy. I was wrong.
The first day was the easiest but on my 2nd and 3rd day I find my meal depressing. I felt being deprived of what I want which makes me think more of the food I craved for. I find it weird also that the dinner was the heaviest. I usually eat more in the breakfast because I burn it by doing some exercise even how short and simple it is.
I missed exercising and I can’t do it while on this diet ’cause I feel weak and I’m afraid that I might look for more food if I will continue with my exercise routine.
The ice cream and the 2 pieces hotdog seemed weird for me. I consider these two to be unhealthy choices so I was surprised to know that they are actually included in this diet.
Did I lose 10lbs? No I did not, but I lost 3lbs in the process and that’s fair enough for me. Weight loss varies from one individual to another depending on several factors like age, health conditions and metabolism.
If you are planning to do this diet, please consult your doctor first. Also, after 3 days you should eat not more than 1,500 calories for 4 days to keep the weight that you’ve lost. I suggest do not do it frequently because you’ll be missing some nutrients that your body needs.
Here’s an article of my friend Mommy Pehpot who also did this diet last year –Β http://www.pehpot.com/2016/01/the-military-diet-3-day-menu-plan.html
Perhaps this diet is for those who wanted to lose weight faster. But do I recommend it? Well, I still prefer to do the traditional way of losing weight (proper diet and exercise) because I want a long term effect and I wanted to look good not only physically but also to have healthy organs π
