Baon Tips: Healthy Bento Cupcakes + Fruits
Yesterday (August 5) was my first time to join the Bento craze. I became interested to do this when I saw the works of Nanay Des.
Before, whenever I hear the word Bento, the first thing that comes to my mind is that it’s hard to do since you need to be an artist to create one. What I didn’t realize was that you can make simple and easy to prepare bento as long as it involves various kinds of foods and make it look colorful. There are lots of examples on the net that you can copy if you are like me who is not that creative and doesn’t have a blood of an artist LOL.
I want my son’s snacks to be healthy, so I always make sure to add more fruits to his snack box.
My son’s bento snack box yesterday was so easy to prepare.
It just took me 1-2 minutes to finish it. It consist of the following:
Calamansi-Orange Cupcake from Goldilocks (P26.00)
Seedless Grapes (around P10.00)
1/2 slice of green Apple (around P10.00)
1 piece of Banana (around P2.00)
Beverage – Milo drink (P7.00)
TOTAL: P55.00
My son’s classmates likes the colorful picks on the grapes and I was surprised that the most pickiest eater on the group asked for some grapes. Ren liked the taste of the calamansi orange cupcake from Goldilocks but it’s heavy in the stomach so he didn’t finished eating it all.
Today, this is his snack box:
This one took me a little longer to prepare, that is because of the kiwi. I need to peel it first and then shape it into a flower like design using a cookie cutter.
It consist of the following:
Mamon from Goldilocks (P20.00)
2 pcs Kiwi Fruit (P40.00)
2 pcs Banana (P4.00)
Beverage: Lemon Juice
Total: P48.00
My son finished eating all the food in the box and I am so happy with it! His Daddy is also proud and happy with my creations and wants to eat some also. Please excuse my lack of creativity and imagination, I am still a newbie in doing this so be patient with me.
I hope I can do some great designs in the future.

I wish I could do that too. Where do you get your cookie cutters from? I don’t have a drop of artistic blood in me, but I will give that a try 🙂

I got my cookie cutters at National Bookstore for only P48 for 6 pieces
