Facebook vs. Friendster
Have you checked your Friendster site lately? Did you know that it has been re-modeled and had a major facelift. Like my blog, the home page turned from plain white to green . But, the question is, will it’s new face and lay-out make their previous users go back?
Some said that Facebook is easier to navigate. It has many features like games (that is really addicting) and interesting applications, but Friendster also have games now like “The Farmer”, “Mario’s Adventure” etc.
Facebook has a status column, which allows users to inform their friends of their whereabouts and actions, which Friendster also have it now.
You can also attached links, videos, and photos in every word you will type in the shout-out (wall) column in Facebook, that Friendster don’t have yet at the moment.
Facebook was also used for different online contests since they have a “Like/Unlike” in every photos, which the new Friendster lay -out don’t have yet.
Maybe you’ll think that Facebook is the best. But, did you know that Facebook has met with some controversy? It has been blocked intermittently in several countries including Syria, China, Vietnam, and Iran. It has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting time using the service (since its applications are really addicting).
Privacy has also been an issue, and it has been compromised several times. Facebook settled a lawsuit regarding claims over source code and intellectual property. The site has also been involved in controversy over the sale of fans and friends, and even the change of personal status of some local and international celebrities (like from married to single).
In my personal opinion, although I started using Friendster I am more hooked on Facebook now. Nah, I don’t play games anymore ever since I posted my article about it’s bad effect on me, but what keeps me coming back there is the contests and the promotion of my blog. I can easily attached my blog link in Facebook unlike in Friendster. I tried posting my blog link in the new Friendster but nobody from their visits my blog. So, Facebook is the winner for me.
How about you people? What do you think is better?
Update: For those who have not joined my “Wedding Anniversary Contest” yet, you only have 7 days before the deadline.Β Come over there now and just guess our “team song”, blog about it, or share it your social sites.Β That is so easy! you may take home 1 of the (2) Gift Certificates (of your choice) if you will be the lucky winner. Like you,I also started with Friendster. but now I don’t log in to my FS account anymore coz I’m hooked with Facebook. Yes you’re right, FB is easier to navigate. It’s also more interactive and much more entertaining. Now I’m even earning through it by simply creating a PayPal wishlist on Facebook.Have you tried it?
