Smart Budgeting: Stocking Essentials Before Prices Increase
Lately, ang daming balita about possible oil price increases, supply issues, and price hikes. Hindi naman sa nagpapanic, but I believe in being prepared — especially when it comes to basic needs at home.
So instead of waiting na tumaas ang presyo, I decided to stock up on essential items habang kaya pa ng budget. The good thing is, I was able to order through Shopee using their 0% interest installment payable in 3 months, which really helped sa budgeting.
What I Bought (Stock Items for the House)
Here are some of the essential items I decided to stock:
- 25kg rice
- Coconut oil
- Vinegar
- Soy sauce and other condiments
- Canned goods
- Other long shelf-life food items
These are basic items na siguradong nagagamit araw-araw, so hindi masasayang. For me, mas okay na yung may stock ka kaysa bibili ka later na mas mahal na.
Why Stocking Up Is Practical During a Crisis

That’s why many families are advised to stock essential goods that:
- Hindi madaling masira
- Laging ginagamit sa bahay
- Expected tumaas ang presyo
- Kayang bilhin ngayon kahit installment
Why 0% Installment Helps
Hindi naman lahat may malaking cash para mag-stock. That’s the reality for many families.
That’s why malaking tulong yung 0% installment because:
- You can prepare without draining your savings
- You can spread the payment for 3 months
- You can buy essentials now before price increases
- Mas madaling i-manage ang monthly budget
For me, this is not unnecessary spending — this is budget planning and crisis preparation.
Practical Tips If You Plan to Stock Up
If you are planning to do the same, here are some practical tips:
1. Buy only essentials, not luxury items.
2. Choose long shelf-life products.
3. Check expiry dates.
4. Compare prices before buying.
5. Use vouchers and free shipping.
6. If using installment, make sure kaya sa monthly budget.
7. Rice, canned goods, and condiments are good starter stock items.
Final Thoughts
Hindi natin kontrolado ang economy, oil prices, or global events. But we can control how we prepare, budget, and plan for our family.
Stocking up on essentials is not hoarding if it’s for your family’s consumption and if done responsibly. For me, it’s about being prepared, avoiding future price increases, and making sure may pagkain pa rin sa mesa no matter what happens.
Minsan ang diskarte ng isang nanay hindi lang pagtitipid… kundi pagiging handa.
