Why do you blog?

When I made the post 100 Blog Ideas for Mommy Bloggers, there are a lot of old or let’s say those who are first in the blogging community (yes naman pinaganda yung term na “old” haha) that was inspired to go back to the previous style of blogging – yung tipong kwentuhan lang na parang walang kausap.

Yes during the old days, most of us blog for the sake of releasing thoughts in our mind to the online world. Yung kwentong wala lang, rants, our kids’ antics, basta kahit ano ipo-post sa blog. It’s our way to be sane as new moms and to connect with people who are also experiencing the struggles we are facing everyday. Swerte na kung may interesadong magbasa, may visit o traffic blog mo.

In this era, some new mommy bloggers still do the same (pero mas common platform na ang social media and not on their blog). Most of the blog entries that I see frequently are either paid posts, about a blog event, sponsored product review, press release or guest posts.

Don’t get me wrong, blogging gave me the opportunity to earn while doing something I love. Blogging changed our life. It’s my bread and butter. But up until now, I am cautious on what opportunity to accept and share with you.

Hindi sa pagmamayabang at hindi sa dahil di ko kailangan ng pera, but I have declined some projects because it’s either I don’t believe in the product, I had a bad experience about their services and/or I’m busy with personal life and I know I won’t be able to finish the task with the given deadline. Family will always come first. Kesa masira ako sa brand or company, dini decline ko na lang, swerte na lang kung mag agree sila na i-extend sa akin ang deadline.

My rule of thumb when posting is 1 sponsored post to at least 3 personal posts. Para di naman mukhang commercial ang blog site ko.

Besides being sane and earning through blogging, another reason why I blog is to be able to touch or inspire other people. My favorite topic to share is how to handle finances. Some of you might know that I was born poor and had a lot of credit card debts in the past. But I was able to be debt free, make some investments, get a life insurance, a new and renovated house etc. Thank God!!!!

I would like to inspire those who are struggling with their finances to stay away from credit card traps, to have a work even at the comforts of your home, to increase your income and try to save and build their emergency fund.

As a mom of a kid with special need (Autism), I also would like to share our experiences as a family who are in this different world. And to give out some tips and ideas to new families on how to handle their kid’s special abilities based on what I learned from professionals and reading materials.

I also have a YouTube channel but I barely post something there (compared to my son’s channel that’s always updated).

Either of the two, blogging or vlogging is a nice way to connect with people in the internet and somehow earn from it.
