The Day I Got out of my Comfort Zone
At first, whenever I got invites to a talk show to share my experiences as a homemaker and a special mom I usually freeze and then decide to decline. The thought of me talking in public and that people will watch it gives chills up to my spine.
I said Yes to some. I had an interview video with GMA 7 News ToGo about my Simbang Gabi story, an interview at Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho for Ren’s Youtube channel and I was part of PTV 4’s station ID (also about our Simbang Gabi story). These are okay with me because it’s not LIVE and it’s not an “on-the-spot” interview (because they gave me their questionnaires before they talked to me).
But as time goes by, my friends (the #KumareBloggers), pushed me to say Yes! to some opportunities (involving talking in front of a camera and a host) because of the changing world in the blogosphere. They said that we should try and do something new or different to see if that would work for us.
I look for a sign if I will say yes to these opportunities and while reading a book, I came across this statement “Remain in your comfort zone or Stretch Yourself”
I reflect for a while, then with shaking hands, I confirmed my participation to not only one but two interviews this year 2018.
Both of these videos haven’t been aired yet, and I don’t know yet if I did good or not. The first one was taken in a supermarket where I sometimes do my shopping alone (my me time).
I keep reminding myself to relax, be confident, be yourself and just do the normal thing you do when you do the groceries. BUT part of my head says, what if I stutter, what if I can’t answer the questions of the host the way I want it to be, what if the people who will watch it find faults (like wrong grammar or wrong pronunciation)….. etc.
The second one was in a newly opened store for kids where the target markets
I am not confident in talking kasi kahit tagalog pa yung salita ko, nabubulol ako or di ko ma-compose ng tama yung thoughts ko minsan. Paano pa pag-English hahaha… tumbling na lang ako!
That’s why I love writing more ’cause I can edit and review the words I’m using before publishing it. Sa video, once nasabi mo na, YUN na YUN!!!
Anyway, bahala na si Lord! I hope the editing team will just showcase the nice part hahaha
If you want to see the real me, I will try to blog more this 2019. Please follow me on https://www.youtube.com/c/levymartinez
