Simple 7th Birthday Celebration of Ren
I don’t know the origin of 7th birthday being celebrated extravagantly. But when I was a kid, I remember that my mom let me have a birthday celebration at school when I turned 7. We were not rich so my 7th birthday celebration was just giving away packed food for my classmates, I did not even blow any cakes at that time as far as I can remember. That is the only birthday celebration I had when I was a kid.
I have planned for my son’s birthday party as early as October last year. I talked to friends who organize birthday parties, I canvassed for catering services, looked for venues and any other additional details to make his party extravagant. But unfortunately, when I looked at the total cost that I will shell out if I will push through with WHAT I WANT, my eyes almost popped out of my head.
After analyzing our capacity to throw a party and as the practical mom that I am, I came up with an idea which was to ask Ren WHAT HE WANTS for his birthday. My son is not into parties, so I am not surprised that he is okay with the idea I presented to him.
- A family Staycation
- A Transformers toy
- A simple birthday party at school
- Have a swimming party with his cousins, aunts and uncles
- A simple birthday party at his therapy center with his classmates there
We scheduled the family staycation before he turns 7 (read why here: mommylevy.com/2014/08/our-luxurious-staycation-at-solaire-resort-casino.html) and he totally enjoyed it.
For the school party, here are some pictures that we took.
Noel and I, made the Bento food for the kids. It consists of spaghetti, lumpiang shanghai, seedless grapes and bread with chocolate spread and cheese shaped with autobot symbol.
The sugar cookies I ordered from my blogger friend Iris of PH Bakehouse, while the cake was from Cupcake Babies by Dyann (a co-parent at Ren’s school).
I did not have a picture for the food of his teachers and some parents who was at school that day.
Here are some Games and Pabitin for boys and girls 🙂
Here are some pictures from our family get together and swimming party here in our subdivision.
and this is his fourth cake for his birthday 🙂
… his last birthday party celebration will be held on Saturday together with his special friends 🙂
Overall, I did not spend a lot for Ren’s birthday celebration. It is just 15% of the total expenses I have computed if I had thrown an extravagant birthday party.
Ren enjoyed everything that we prepared for him. He keeps on saying “I love you Mama”, “I love you Daddy” at the end of the day, and he even said “It’s awesome to have a Birthday”. His happiness is the most important thing for us.
We Love You Anak!!! Happy 7th Birthday! May you have many more birthdays to come!

This is such a nice read. I am also planning to plan for my daughter’s upcoming 7th birthday in August and thinking of celebrating it in a non extravagant way but instead a memorable one for our family. This is indeed a very practical way of celebrating. Thank you.

Wow! Mam Levy, nainspired po ako sa blog nyo. Mothers would do whats best for their child/children but when it comes to money isa po ako sa mga mommies na problemado dyan.😀 hehe . My son is turning 7 this sept 16, wala pa pong plan kase wala pa pong hawak na budget. Pero tulad po ngayon naghahanap nako ng simple yet memorable na birthday ideas. Gusto ko rin po sana yung pasok sa budget. Thank you.

That’s really nice! I also love the bento for kids. While I am in despair pushing to have my son’s 7th bday party celebration at Fun Ranch, I think just like what you did I need to be more practical and set-up a fun filled party without hurting our budget. Thanks for the inspiration!
