Our Brunch at IHOP in Filinvest Alabang
Noel and I had an idea to cook new dishes every Sunday, but when we are lazy we just go out and eat somewhere. Last Sunday, I asked my two boys to go to Alabang and try IHOP.
We haven’t tried dining at IHOP yet, so when I saw a deal at one of my favorite deal sites, I immediately bought some vouchers.
The last time we tried to dine there was when we stayed at F1 Hotel in BGC but the line was quite long so we decided not to go inside.
THE FOOD WE ORDERED
We let Ren order his food. He is such a sucker for bacon so that is what he ordered.
Rooty Jr– One scrambled egg, one strip of bacon, one pork sausage link and one buttermilk pancake crowned with whipped topping and your choice of cool strawberry topping, warm blueberry compote apple compote P195.00
We ordered it first because he was quite hungry and grumpy. He was done eating when our order arrived.
Here is what Noel ordered
Pot Roast Melt– Tender, slow-cooked USDA choice beef pot roast, melted Swiss and American cheeses and caramelized onions in a rich beef and mushroom gravy on grilled sourdough bread P425.00
Pot Roast Melt P425.00
He said that the meat is tender and it tasted okay. But for the mashed potato, he said that there was nothing special with it. This dish is so light that he did not felt full at all.
… and here is my order
Fried Chicken Dinner– Four pieces of fried chicken, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, served with a savory biscuit, mashed potatoes and buttered corn P595.00
Under the garlic bread is the buttered corn
I love the garlic bread. It was sinfully yummy I would like to order more of it. The buttered corn and mashed potato was okay (nothing special with it). The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
I am glad I chose to order this dish because my two boys are bitin with their meal so I shared this dish with them.
VERDICT
I was curious about IHOP because of the long line that I saw when they had their first store at BGC. When they had their store at MOA I wanted to go inside and try their menu but I was afraid of the cost. That is why I did not think twice to buy a discounted voucher when I saw it.
When we arrived, their store at Filinvest Alabang was full, we were very hungry already so we were glad that we were seated immediately.
Most of the guests at Alabang are foreigners who are maybe staying at nearby hotels.
I have high expectations with their pancakes because of their name (International House of Pancakes- IHOP), but unfortunately when I tasted my son’s pancake I felt that it was quite dry and salty (even with the whipped cream on top).
My husband said that the food is not worth the price and I agreed. With the P1,400 bill that we had we can order other food that taste better with a hearty serving.
But in fairness, their service was great! I commend the friendly crews, they are awesome. They were quick to get our order and I felt special with them around (naks!).
My foodie friends told me that we should have ordered this and that instead, maybe next time if we have extra moolah I will listen to them and order their recommended food.

Whenever it is our first time to eat in a restaurant, we would always settle for the house specialty. That should go well, otherwise if their best is a flop, i guess there is not much to say about the rest of their menu.

I’ll do that next time.

Thank you for your honest review, Mommy Levy. We were planning to try IHOP at UP Town Center not because of the hype but for food tasting. We have a cookbook that has clone recipes of well-known restos in the States including IHOP. We’ve wanted to try the real thing first before we try the recipe and differentiate each. Ang mahal naman pala nyan. We’ll just cook na lang! 😀

Go try it mommy Kat, maybe my taste buds is different from yours 🙂
