Ueno First City Hotel Overview
When I was looking for a hotel to stay in Japan at booking.com, I filtered it to free cancellation in case we will encounter last minute change of mind or cancellation of flight.
I decided to look for a hotel in Ueno area because as mentioned in my previous post, I planned to ride a Skyliner train from Narita airport and it has a direct stop here (no need to transfer). But since it was sooo cold when we arrived and saw that the Ueno station was 15 minutes away from our hotel, I changed my mind and looked for another train station that is only 2minutes walk to our hotel.

I like that our room was spacious. Ito ang pinaka malaking room sa 5 hotels na binook ko nung asa Japan kami.
The bathroom was also huge and it has complete amenities. We are only 3, but I think the room can fit 3 or more people.
But what I don’t like was since it was our first time in Japan and coming from a tropical country, an 8°C temperature is already chilling. We expected that the room has a heater but we don’t know how to operate it. We thought that they have a centralized system so we did not dare to ask. We were not able to sleep properly on our first night because of the cold room. I hope next time they will guide their guests on how to adjust the room’s temperature.
The big lesson for me here is to ask also and not assume.
They can keep your luggage for the whole day if you will check out early. They offer breakfast set, but we did not avail it because our plan was to explore the food of Japan’s convenience stores.
This hotel is near Ueno park by the way so we were able to explore the park early in the morning without the crowd.
If we will have the opportunity to go back to Tokyo, we will consider to book this hotel again. We were not able to explore the nearby Akihabara and Asakusa because we looked for Ren’s lost bag, pero I hope we can do that next time.
