Chosen Education – Casa del Libro Overview
Last year 2021, we decided to transition from homeschooling to online learning. I looked for nearby schools that offers online learning but unfortunately the tuition fee is the same as the school’s regular face to face class. For me, they should have lowered the rate since the kids will not use the school facilities naman, the rate is not economical and practical as per my opinion.
I am glad I found out about this school called Casa del Libro.
Casa De Libro is a DepEd accredited school (School Number 424609) that offers NKP, Elementary, and Junior High School. Their blended programs cater to all types of learning styles – Digi Module, Independent Learning, Online Distance Learning and SPED.
We decided to enroll Ren to their Online Distance Learning class but under the SPED program. The rate is the same but we added additional P1500 for the Individualized Education Program or IEP. But this next school year, we decided not to include IEP anymore since Ren can manage the class requirement without it naman.
The Grade 8 class where Ren belongs to started with only 13 students, then after a month 3 students entered so they became 16. It is still a small class size and that’s okay. Their class was scheduled in the afternoon because there are students who are overseas. They have 3 hours synchronous and 2 hours asynchronous.
Having classmates is one of the reasons why we decided to transfer Ren to an online class from homeschooling. He barely goes out and socialize because he is still anxious of the virus so online socialization is the only option he has. Kasi, compared when he was still homeschooled and before the pandemic, we usually have a weekly sports program where he meet kids and also play with kids on the neighborhood. Pero ngayon talagang wala, kami lang kausap nya.
Luckily most of his classmates are friendly and they understand his quirks. They know about his condition because he told it to the class during the meet and greet program. During group sessions, he can communicate well naman, express what he wants and suggest activities that they can do (or not).
Regarding the teachers, I can say that all are nice but unfortunately not everyone are very strict. They can teach well naman and handle the class but one of the rules kasi na hindi talaga nila strictly na maipatupad ay yung pag open ng camera. I understand if the student is using a mobile phone or using a data to connect, but some do not and yet they are not opening their cam. The teachers kept on reminding them to do it, pero may mga di pa din sumusunod. For me, opening the cam is important to make them more responsible kasi nga may nakakakita sa kanila. Pwede kasing nag attendance lang yung kid, tapos tulog pala or wala sa chair nya.
I want to commend the teachers also for being approachable and they offer advice and guidance even after the class. There are times that Ren asks some of his teachers for guidance regarding his anxiety. Minsan sawa na siguro sya na kami lang nag-aadvice sa kanya.
They also offer seminars for parents with various topics and they have support groups too. Kids may also enroll in their STEM program (with extra cost).
Overall, we are okay with this school and even enrolled for another year. If you are looking for a homeschool provider that is DepEd accredited or still want your kid under Online Distance Learning, then you might want to consider them too.

Your input is really helpful, salamat! If I may ask though, are you still with CDLI now? Did you get a tutor pa po for Ren? Iβm really worried kasi if kakayanin ko ba na ako lang magtuturo sa kanila.. Thanks once again and looking forward to your reply. β€οΈ God bless!

Thanks for your response po. What do you mean telegram po do they use any portal for kids to access their lessons, like in saudi before they use Google classroom to access other activities and presentations tru Google docs and Google slide. Anyways it’s OK for us what ever platform as long there’s some learning material that she can access. Lastly po I want to ask coz my daughter got traumatized from her current school. Are they transparent with the grades po I mean does kids gets feedback on their score on quizzes, activities and exams, and does teachers give remarks on their student in regards with their studies. She used to be a consistent honor student since kg to g4 but last year I don’t know how they compute her grades when it’s only modules and exam and perhaps 1 or 2 homework from other subjects her grades went down. Every time we ask for her score the teachers will say they not yet done checking they never give us any feedback at all so we got surprised,my daughter got shocked coz we even mention that most of the lessons were just same in her g4. I know she got upset but we explained that’s it’s OK it’s as long we know that you did all your effort to do better but the problem she said it’s OK not to be in honor list if Im really slacking or I didn’t pass the exam because it’s hard and I didn’t study but all the exams were easy for her coz she just took all those lessons during her 4th grade nothing new that much and the online platform that they were using for exam doesn’t give an accurate score even the form itself got problems that when she submitted her answer some part disappeared and no response from the teachers. I’m sorry that I take your time to shared this bad experiences. We don’t mind the ranking as long we know hows her progress, if there’s no feedback from teachers how would she know what specific matter she has to work on.As a parents I would like to know if they do inform the students or the parents get notified if their missing any activities or anything that regards with the students behavior and performance. Thanks a lot po. This school is 1 of my choice even if it’s for next year.

Good day, Thanks for your blog it’s really helpful. I’m looking for online school for my daughter. She’s currently enrolled online in grade 6 in Zamboanga, were currently living in egypt. As much as my daughter want to go face to face we can’t compromise her safety specially she can’t really speak Arabic. I really want to pull her out from her current school coz she’s not learning anything. She’s a consistent honor student until g4 when she was studying in a Philippine curriculum school in saudi but not only her grades go down without even knowing how they even compute her grades when they were just relying on modules and the exam and no transparency on exam score even the quarter grades. We wouldn’t mind if she don’t get intge honor lust but aside from math and ICT and the constellation in science almost all the subjects had the same lessons when she was grade 4 and I even mention it to them. Ma’am I want to know through your experiences does casa de libro has a good online platform. Ano po Yung gamit nilang platform and does their teachers teach even it’s online. As a parent I hope you can understand, my concern is the school really got accreditations in DepEd and were they organized. I plan to enroll her next year coz they said they were full already. Hope to hear from you po. Your reply would really be a great help Thanks and stay safe and healthy po.

My son has a lot of classmates from abroad. CDLI are DepEd accredited you can check their school number I posted here. The school uses zoom for online classes and yes they have teachers per subject and they are require to open their cameras during class session. They have LSM system where all the lessons are inputted. They uses Telegram for announcements. Hope this helps.

Ma’am do they give feedback about kids scores on their quizes, activities and exam. I’m just curious about the transparency on their grading. Does teachers give feedback on the kids performance if they missed any activities. My daughter used to be an honor student from kg until g4 but last year I don’t know how they compute her grades when they only had modules and exam and may be 1 or 2 hw and activity to al subjects only until 1st and 2nd quarter after that nothing at all. We wouldn’t mind if she didn’t get included in the honor list but we’re wondering how they even compute her grades when they didn’t even give us any feedback. Nevermind if she didn’t pass her exam if it’s too hard or she’s slacking, but my daughter keeps telling me it’s quite boring coz she’s answering exam that’s almost same thing what she took on her gr4 when we were still in her previous school. I told them at the 1st month that why is it that the lessons where just lije same on her 4th grade nothing new. Except for math and ICT that teach more how to use PowerPoint, the rest were all same as if she didn’t level up to grade 5.nevermund the ranking but at least we want her to learn. As much as I want to transfer her now, we’re already fully paid and casa is full on their slot already so we might just wait and reserve early for next year. I would really appreciate any feedback about the school coz we still have to let her study tru online coz we’re in overseas and we can’t compromise her safety to send her face to face. Thanks po ma’am. God bless po.

Hello Mommy! I was trying to google some information about Case Del Libro. I am a bit skeptical if I will enroll my two daughters for this upcoming school year. May I ask if the school is really DepEd Accredited?
Hoping you can help me decide. Thank you so much!
