First Confinement Experience at Asian Hospital Medical Center Alabang
Our family have experienced the heart pounding and most shocking thing at the start of this week.
We originally planned for just a visit to the urologist for a check up. Upon checking on the internet, only Asian Hospital in Alabang has an available doctor at that time. Hindi ko kayang mag-antay ng hapon at kinabukasan dahil feeling ko kailangang kailangan na.
But unfortunately, after the doctor saw my son’s condition, he asked us to get a permission from a pediatrician to have him undergo an emergency surgery.
When we went to the pediatrician, she advised us to be admitted in the hospital before the surgery since the lab results needed are too long for us to wait. It would help Ren to be more comfortable since he’s in pain that moment.
Since we don’t have a health card, they told us to prepare at least 50K for the minor yet emergency procedure.
The pediatrician, told the admission department that if there’s no available room, we will be admitted in the emergency area. Upon hearing that, sabi ko sana may available na room because that would be additional 40% from our bill as far as I know.
Checking-in was fast naman, upon admission, they will ask you what’s your preferred room then they will give you all the Philhealth forms that are needed to be accomplished. Since I know that we will not stay long in the hospital, I chose the ward room only. Here’s the price of each rooms:
We were so thankful that there was no one admitted in the ward area when we came in until we were discharged. Sulit na sulit namin ang room with 4 beds, 4 comfy chairs and table and the bathroom. Ang lakas din ng aircon, it’s just that there’s no TV inside the room, but that’s okay. Buti nalang may Netflix!
They provided 2 pillows (which they told us to bring home when discharged), a blanket and a set of towels. Upon arrival at the room, they brought in a sandwich and water for the patient’s companion.
Since Ren is scheduled for operation, he was not allowed to eat anything and even drink water for 8 hours. Umabot ng more that 20 hours na hindi siya nakakain. Awang-awa ako kasi gutom na sya, pero di sya nagreklamo, tiniis nyang wag kumain.
I’m so blessed to have my friend Dindin at that time. I asked for prayers from friends kasi and she said that since she will go to Alabang, she’ll drop by to bring some food for us before doing her errands. Noel and I haven’t eaten our lunch yet when she arrived around 2pm so we were thankful for the food she bought. She even volunteered to drive me from the hospital to our house to get some things. I declined kasi nakakahiya, but she insisted so hindi na ako nagpakipot kasi need ko din talaga makauwi para kumuha ng gamit at pakainin ang tuta namin.
Ren’s minor surgery only lasted for an hour and 2 hours at the recovery room. He was sedated so they waited for him to wake up before bringing him back to the room.
Ren was so hungry that when he woke up, the first thing he looked for was not me or his dad but FOOD! Sabi nya, “can I eat the fried chicken in the room already?”.
Asian Hospitals food is okay. For dinner, they sent vegetables with fish, soup and fruits (sorry forgot to take a pic). For breakfast the next day, this is what they sent for Ren to eat.
And before checking out, they still sent this for lunch. We told at the admission area that Ren has G6PD but I don’t think it was noted since they still included beans in his meal.
Asian Hospital has a billing kiosk wherein you can check the running bills while you’re in there. I don’t like to look at it, per naglakas loob ako kasi ang tagal ng doctors dumating to discharge us.
Since the urologist already told me to prepare 50K for the procedure I was not shocked when I saw the running bill, it was already around 57K when I checked. But I know the professional fee of the doctors are not yet included.
He got 2 doctors: a urologist (who did the surgery and a pediatrician who gave the clearance to do the procedure)
I’m glad that Ren has a PWD ID , the discount he got was huge. My Philhealth in the other hand ay barya lang halos ang nabawas π parang ayaw ko na nga ituloy ito.
If you were to ask me if after this am I going to get a health insurance, well to be honest I’m still skeptical to do that. Why? because the annual rate is quite expensive, it’s around 20K and up for a single person. We barely get sick and visit a hospital, so I don’t think getting one is worth it. But I will still look unto this option. I will update you of my decision π

HMO card is worth it mommy. Insurance naman kasi is the benefit na ayaw mong gamitin kasi if nagamit mo it means may unwell pero at least may maaasahan ka in times of need. Sa company namin Cocolife ang provider but exclusion si Asian Hospital kasi nga mahal tapos dami procedures na pinapagawa βdawβ. π€£ My parents is extended dependent ko na (since married na ako) so wala na share ang company and own account so mabigat talaga. Anyway, at least okay na po si Ren. Thank you Lord.
