Our Baguio Stay at Azalea Hotel and Residences

On our 2nd day in Baguio, we stayed at Azalea Hotel and Residences. But before I tour you around this hotel, let me tell you a short story first on my booking experience.

I got a little problem when I booked on their site because I modified the date of our booking. My sister was not available on my chosen date so I have no choice but to change it. But I did not read the reservation policy sent on my email that I will be charged the entire price of the room if I will change the date. I already change the date when I saw it, na shookt ako guys!

The Deluxe room that I chose cost P3,900 (with free breakfast for 2). Masakit sa bulsa ma charge ng amount na yan na di mo mapapakinabangan ha. What I did is to email them to explain what happened and ask for a refund. The first reply was they will raise it to the management, the 2nd reply was the modification I made was chargeable because it was stated in the reservation policy. Ang sakit pero I accepted the fact that it may not be reversed and that I will just charge it to experience. But, I did not give up. I replied again and told them “emphasizing” that it’s just a few minutes ago when I modified my booking (BTW this happened last Dec.24, so I also told them that in the spirit of Christmas to just let this one mistake pass). I’m so happy that they re-escalated it to the higher management and approved my request. YAHOOOOO!!!!

I don’t know if other hotels are doing this kind of policy too, may naka-experience din ba sa inyo? I noticed that in Airbnb they have a grace period if you want to cancel your booking or change dates. I hope that they will consider doing the same especially if it’s off-peak season.

ANYWAY, now I’m ready to share our experience with the hotel. First, I like that they have a luggage area for your stuff if you arrived earlier than the standard check-in period of 2 pm onwards. We went there around 8am and left our things then went to Camp John Hay to eat breakfast and stroll around.

Around 1 pm, we returned to the hotel to check-in. We booked 2 rooms since they only allow 2 adults and 2 kids per room (Deluxe). Since we are 5, I booked a separate room for my mom and sister. I have a GC by the way that I used for our room and I bought a separate room for my mom and sister.

What surprised me though was that they know that I booked 2 rooms but our rooms were not located near each other. Ours was at the 3rd floor and with veranda, while theirs was on 5th floor.

My sister who works at Canadian Bed and Sheet checked their duvet and bedsheets if they are using one from their office, but unfortunately it’s not. Their pillows are the only one that came from them.

They also provide complete toiletries and they have bidet too, yahoo!

The room has a kitchen with complete kitchen tools. We have used the plates when we ordered our dinner at Kuya J ( their in-house restaurant) since they are fully booked when we went there.

BTW, if you have kids in tow, you can borrow some board games at the reception area that they can use. And they have a playground with slide and swings too (but it was too cold to stay outside).

The next day, we woke at around 8am to eat our breakfast. I was looking forward for a bacon or a bagnet or Ilocos longganisa but all of these are not in the menu.

We had ham, sausages, inihaw na liempo (thinly sliced), pritong bangus, adobong sitaw, pansit, bread with butter (not the brands I’m familiar with) and some desserts.

I’m not that satisfied with the food choices but it’s okay. I paid half price for Ren which is P200+ because he is not included in our package.

Azalea is a Baguio’s 4-star serviced apartment hotel. The published rate for a Superior Room is P5,300+ for regular season, but you could avail of a discounted rate in their website (we got ours for P3,900 with buffet breakfast for 2).

The question is, is it worth it? well, first of all, they provide great service and attend to our needs especially when we left our things ahead of the check-in period, the room and amenities are fine too. So yes I think it is…….. but I hope they will provide more options for breakfast and make all the room as clean as possible (my mom and sister’s room has dirty lampshades compared to our room). They don’t need to pay for aircon anymore because the place is too cold already so I hope they will put the extra savings to provide “extra” for their guests.
