I strongly disagree with this ad

Did you see any of these billboards in your area?

I didn’t mind it at first, until my son noticed it and asked me to translate it for him since he can’t understand tagalog language that much. I usually don’t mind translating words for him until this.

I can’t answer him quickly as I used to do because I DO NOT agree with what the message is all about. I just told my son that it’s nothing important and just don’t mind it. I told him that not all the things advertised are true. I also told him to ask his dad about it instead.

His dad said the same thing when we arrived home. Noel said that it’s nothing important and it’s for adults. I know some kids will be more curious pag ganto sagot mo sa kanila, but I’m glad that Ren is not like any ordinary kids. He did not ask about it again.

Ano tumatakbo sa isip ko nung nabasa ko ‘to?

1. Pag hindi ka dinala sa SOGO, hindi ka Mahal?
2. Bakit kailangan sa SOGO? Di pwedeng sa 5 Star Hotel kasi mahal ka nya, o baka kasi mahal don.
3. Di ba pwedeng “Dahil Mahal Kita, Ibabahay Kita!”
4. Pang Sogo lang ba si Mariel?
5. Magkano binayad sa kanila ng Sogo, para gamitin ang katagang ito?

For the last question, as a blogger I too sometimes got offer from companies and PR agencies to promote their items and/or services BUT if the task/campaign doesn’t agree with my values even how high the offer is I decline. With that, I can sleep peacefully at night because that’s what important to me.

Did those words really came from Robin?

The word “Mahal” or in english “LOVE” is a strong word and for me it should be uttered with respect. I think SOGO likes to change the perception of them to be NOT just a MOTEL or the Pinoy’s perception of the place to spend a short time with their partners to have “you know what”. I think SOGO wanted to show that they also cater to everyone, those who want to have a quiet study time, travelers who needed a place to stay for a while, etc.

But why use the word “LOVE”?

For me, ang panget tignan ng words na’to na nagkalat kahit saan. Ano kaya sa tingin nila effect nito sa mga utak ng mga batang nakakabasa?
