5 Laundry Hacks during the Rainy Days
As I have mentioned on my previous post, there are a lot of factors that make our clothes stinks. Based on a survey, the Top 10 Malodors on clothes are: vehicle exhaust, smoke from cigarettes, smoke from burning garbage, sweat and body odor, wet socks, amoy kulob, fried fish, smoke from barbecue, smell of garlic and onions.
Since it always rains nowadays, I am sure just like me you are also concerned about your clothes not getting dried completely. Amoy kulob is one of the malodors I hate the most. To avoid it my option is to bring our pile of dirty clothes to the laundry shop because they know how to make it smell good.
But unfortunately the nearest laundry shop in our area doesn’t have the pick-up/delivery options anymore, so I have no choice but to do the laundry myself. I handwash our clothes and here are some of the laundry hacks I have learned during rainy season.
5 Laundry Hacks during the Rainy Days
1. Before you put the detergent, rinse your dirty clothes first. Do not forget to separate the whites from the colored clothes.
2. If the clothes have stains, put a bleaching detergent on the stain area then rinse it first.
3. After washing all the clothes, rinse it properly making sure that there’s no more soap on the clothes. Always make sure that you are using clean water when washing your clothes.
4. Wring out as much water as you can from your clothes to help it dry faster.
5. Don’t forget to use fabric conditioner to make the clothes smelling good after washing.
Regarding fabric conditioner, my favorite is Downy. It is tried and tested. I love how our clothes smell after it get dried even though I hang it indoors. My favorite variant is the Sunshine Fresh, it is really designed for rainy days.
I hope these tips will help you in having fresh smelling clothes this rainy season. BTW, here’s a video of me after I washed our clothes doing the Downy Boom Boom Pow Dance since sobra akong natuwa 🙂

My sister uses both sa laundry. I love the smell whether nabilad sa araw or not – it’s still the same!

We use Downy too! I love the perfume scents. Enjoyed your video!😄

So I wasn’t so crazy before that I would directly apply the bleach on the stain, haha! Thanks for the tip. Yeah, pag tag ulan, importante talaga ang fabric conditioner!
Owen ponce says
I will surely apply it

We used to put Downy also in the past. But we stopped because of the strong smell.

Sobrang galing ng bagong Downy. Di talaga kinakapitan ng bad smells yun clothes.

I use all the hacks that you listed here! I also love downy! Especially kapag tag ulan at mahirap magpatuyo ng mga damit.

We use Downy also, even on our curtains. Smells nice 🙂

We use Ariel and Downy at home. Downy has a distinct smell which I love. And it is very gentle on our clothes and even on my hands.

A downy user here as well. Yes, the dilemma that we, parents, have during raining season are our laundry. We don’t want to smell our kids like kulob and downy is really useful with it comes to that.
You’re so cute Mommy Levy. Pwede na commercial model.😉
Mommy Levy says
haha thanks Jen 🙂

Great tips! I am a newbie when it comes to doing laundry though. Haha. If there is no househelp, I always rely on the laundromats nearby. Love Downy though for its great scent and super conditioned clothes!
Monica says
Haha! May Boom Boom Pow talaga si mommy. But yeah, it’s difficult to wash/dry clothes during the rainy season so we really need to get a good system going para matuyo ng maayos!

Wow naman, mummy! Yan talaga ang isang talent na waley ako. I’m stressed over the laundry these days talaga. As of writing, may bagyo pa bukas eh Thurs and Sun ang laundry days ko (sorry 2 days lang talaga, hahahaha, yan lang ang kaya ng wahmlife ko). I have to agree on Downy. We use to buy a different fabcon in sachets. We use one kasi for 3 batches of laundry. Downy is the only one that smells really rrealy good kahit hatiin ko sa tatlo ang isang sachet. 🙂

Naku 1 palang, agree na agree na ko. Hindi tallaga ako marunong maglaba. But early this year, I tried doing our laundry kasi bumabaho mga damit ng anak ko. Grabe! And then nalaman ko kaya pala kasi di nila binabanlawan muna bago lagyan ng sabon. Eh cloth diaper pa kami. So ang panghi humahalo sa detergent. Yuck! Nice tips Mommy Levy.
Maan says
I honestly prefer the scent of laundry detergent over Downy or any other fabric softener (I’m an anomaly) but I find Downy necessary because I don’t like ironing!

Loyal Downy user here 🙂 Lalo na talaga ngayon that it’s raining, I hate that kulob smell pa naman on clothes.

Great tips! We no longer do laundry at home though. We send our clothes to the laundry shop. But we do use Downy Baby. We’re the ones who give it to our laundry shop for use with our baby’s clothes.

Ang cute naman ng boom boom pow mo Mommy Levy! I will share your tips to our labandera! Because most of the time, the clothes do not smell clean after her laundry!
Mommy Levy says
Thank you Cheesy. Yes please share the tips to her 🙂

Ariel at Downy rin ang gamit namin sa house. Galing mo pala magsayaw, Mommy Levy! Naaliw ako, hehe. 🙂

hahaha salamat Edel

I’m a user of both Downy and Ariel. I love to pair them talaga compare to other brands. I love how it makes clothes smells good parin kahit umuulan. And oh, I love your video 😉
Michelle says
I also use downy especially ngayon na tag-ulan! 🙂 And pati yang Ariel Liquid Detergent super bilib ako kasi yung stains ng damit ni little one, kaya nya matanggal talaga basta maibabad ko for 30 minutes to 1hr. Depends really. Btw, I also teach my son the boom boom pow dance! Haha! Kapag magcue na sa commercial break I’ll hold his arms and make him dance. 😀 Minsan LSS pa ako haha
Denice Diaz-Faeldonia says
I love Ariel! Downy however I can’t use kasi nagrereact yung skin ni Bunny, much stronger kasi yung scent versus other brands. 🙁
Teresa Martinez says
Of all household tasks, doing the laundry is actually what I enjoy the most and I’m glad to know that we wash clothes the same way.

Loved the video Mommy Levy 🙂 We will also try to join Downy’s Boom Boom Pow contest as per my daughter’s request. We love downy as well.

I love Ariel and Downy, it is always on my grocery list. Tried and tested na rin, minsan nagpapalit ako ng scent pag immune na sa amoy. 🙂
