ToyConPH 2016 Overview

I’ve heard of ToyCon or Toy Convention a few years ago, but it was always held at SM Megamall Megatrade hall. The location is quite far from our place so I did not bother to come. BUT this year, my family wanted to be a part of it because ToyCon 2016 is now at SMX Mall of Asia. This place is just 30 minutes away from where we reside. Also, with the birth and success of my son’s YouTube channel we thought that this event is a nice addition to his videos of toy related events.

It was our first time to be in ToyCon and we’re all extremely superduper excited.

To be honest, I did not grow up liking toys. I’m more of the “asa labas palagi” with friends kind of child. I was able to live my childhood days without toys in hand, but now being with boys who loves it, then nahahawa na din ako.

It’s just we have few guides in choosing which toys to get… it should be on sale, it should be sturdy and you should be able to play with it. To give you a little background my husband has a lot of toys growing up and if only he did not opened it, it already costs A LOT.

But when Ren came, my husband did not mind opening and letting Ren play with his toys. Nakakahinayang sa totoo lang, pero ang sagot na lang ni Noel hayaan mo na, gusto nya e. Saka napag laruan din nya yung mga toys nya dati maingat lang siya sa laruan kaya hanggang ngayon umabot pa kay Ren.

Now, we’re teaching Ren to take care of his toys too so that when he grows old and have a child of his own, that kid can still play and use it too.

Fast Forward to Toycon (which this post is all about hahaha), when I entered the venue I was overwhelmed with the number of toys on display. I can’t decide which way and area to go first.

Here are a few reasons to go to ToyCon:

1. At ToyCon you’ll be able to see toys of collectors on display. These people take time and effort to collect those toys and it’s the place where they allow us to see it with our own eyes.
2. This time is also the best time of the year to do a cosplay. Next year, if ever it will be at SMX MOA again, well consider to make a costume for Ren (if he likes to wear one).
3. You’ll be able to meet and greet your favorite Icons like for this year, Hodor and Dean Cain were present to meet everyone.
4. You’ll get to see toys you’ve never seen before and some are even on sale.
5. You’ll be able to connect with people who have the same interest as you.

Maybe the only downside of this event is that others find the P500.00 entrance fee for 1 day is quiet expensive. Kaya dapat sulitin mo mag pictures ng mag pictures ng mga display toys sa loob and also look for toys that are on sale.
