Ren’s DIY Costumes for Humanities Week
This week is another busy week for kids (and moms) at my son’s school. We’re celebrating Humanities week. The kids showcased their art projects, poems, spelling bee competition and a lot more.
The Grade 2 kids were asked to recite the poem “A dog is a dog” by Thomas Stearns Eliot yesterday. The criteria for grades includes clear voice, posture and costume.
For Ren’s costume, I decided to create a dalmatian costume since he already has white t-shirts and pants. I just added some spots made out of black folder. His dog ears were made out of socks, we used his dad sleeping eye mask for his head band (and sew the socks on it).
Viola!!!
… and for today, the kids were asked to wear storybook character costumes. I commend all the parents who made an effort to make DIY costumes and those who looked for ready made costumes for their kids as well.
We decided to let Ren wear a “Cat in the Hat” costume since he already has black long sleeves and pants (it’s the same clothes he wore at the “Natong Gagamba” presentation).
I only spent maybe around P30.00 for his two costumes. Practikal di ba? minsan lang naman gagamitin e.

How nice naman that they have activities in school that they have to dress up for. We have a few of those, too, at Little MrC’s school, but as he’s getting older, nababawasan ng nababawasan.

Goodness! Great job dear. I don’t know if I can pull this off. I have twin toddlers and an infant for now and facing different sets of trials and triumphs. I don’t know what I’m going to do when they have activities like this in school. I’m terrible at sewing and designing. But you, you make this look easy. ☺
