Our family staycation at WIDUS Hotel and Casino in Clark Pampanga
Noel and I had our 10th year wedding anniversary last Friday. Originally we had plans to celebrate it at Tagaytay but we received an invite to go to the North and visit the only 5 star hotel at Clark Pampanga – WIDUS Hotel and Casino. We’ve never been to Clark so we delightedly said yes!
Widus is pronounced as “with us” which is where the name came from.
Our travel time from Makati to Clark only lasted for 2 hours with moderate traffic at Edsa. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff that offered us cold towel to freshen us up. Checking-in was a breeze.
THE ROOM
Our assigned room was Room 225. It is a Family Junior Suite room that is around 43.5 sqm.
It has a king sized and one single bed, a trundle bed in the adjoining living room, T&B with bath tub and 8” shower head, 32” flat screen cable TV, coffee and tea station and a mini kitchen with 6 cubic feet refrigerator and a microwave oven. When we entered the room there is a fruit basket waiting for us too.
This room is perfect for a family of 4 or 5. There is also a balcony for those who want to smell the fresh air. During our stay, there was an on-going construction for what I believe is the Tower 3 so there were not so much good views that we can get from our balcony.
Noel and I have two things that we are always looking forward in every hotel that we go to, Noel wants a nice and comfy bed with a fresh smelling linen while I want a clean bathroom complete with toiletries.
Noel got what he wanted- to doze in a soft and relaxing good smelling bed. He is a very hardworking person and a good night of uninterrupted sleep in a good bed is just what he always wanted.
Regarding the Bathroom, I like that there is a bathtub with cold and hot water that you can choose from. The bath essentials are also complete: soap, shampoo and conditioner (in one bottle), shower cap, toothpaste and toothbrush and lotion. If only there is a bidet in the bathroom for me that will make it perfect 🙂
The Internet connection was also fast.
Ren on the other hand, just wants to watch his favorite Cartoon shows while he stays at the room and dip in the pool.
AMENITIES AND SERVICES
- SWIMMING POOL
Kids will enjoy swimming in the beautiful pool of Widus Hotel. The pool is one of the amenities of the hotels that we go to that we always take into consideration because Ren really likes to swim. To prove that, in within just an hour after we checked-in, Ren kept on asking me to go down and take a dip already, so to keep him quiet we immediately changed to our swimming attire and went down to the pool area. Fortunately, we had the pool for ourselves… yippeeee!!!!
I am happy to see that they have a shower room complete with soap and shampoo plus a locker area besides the pool and it was very clean.
- TRANSPORTATION SERVICE
I like it when Hotels offer Free Transportation to selected drop points or you can hire them to go to places that you want. We even tried their golf car when we checked out their Convention Center.
- GYM
For health buffs like me (chosera!), Widus Hotel has a Gym that you can use for free during your stay.
- AISIA SPA
If you need to have a relaxing massage, Widus also have a massage area. Sayang lang that we were not able to try this service. I saw the prices and it’s very competitive.
ENTERTAINMENT
Adults who are brave enough and want to try their fortune can check out Widus Hotel’s Casino area. They have 150 slot machines and 25 gaming tables where one can play baccarat, blackjack, pontoon, roulette, poker and other games.
The Prism Lounge offers good drinks and live band too.
FOOD
We were able to try 3 Restaurants during our stay. First, we had our dinner at Salt Restaurant.
Resident Executive Chef Johnny Rodriguez have prepared a special dish for us during our stay.
My son, who is not a picky eater gamely tried the dishes presented in front of him. Ren loved the salmon sinigang, he was even asking for rice… unfortunately he accidentally bit a piece of green chili which he taught was an okra which made him ask for a lot of water. After that, Noel and I decided to just let them go up the room while I finish the 2 last dishes.
I was quite hungry so I have finished almost everything that was served in front of me except the Maria’s Tamales because I am not a fan of spicy foods. All these dishes also came with a glass of wine. I am not a wine drinker so I let Noel drink all of them LOL
We also had our breakfast here. I consider their bacon as one of the best bacons that I have ever tasted. Their patrons are mostly Korean so there offerings are international.
We also went to the Prism as I have mentioned a while ago. It is an exclusive and upscale bar. Vibrant music from the best bands in town is being played here. You can choose from a spectrum of drinks, from beer and cocktails to wines and liquors and pair your favorite drink with an assortment of delectable hors d’ouvres. Nightly entertainment here begins at six and stretches up to two in the morning.
The next day, we had our lunch at Malt. Since it is inside the Casino, Ren as a minor is not allowed to enter. The management kindly ordered some food from Salt and just have them delivered to the room. This is one of the reasons my son enjoyed his stay. Imagine eating his favorite pizza and chicken in front of the TV in a very comfortable couch… What a life!!!!
Here are the food that was served to us at Malt.
I will update you for the names of every dishes here. The best for me were the Chicken Buffalo, Fish Tacos, the Beef with Sotanghon Soup and the dessert. It was the best cheesecake that I have ever tasted, I even want to bring some home hahaha.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES AND PLACES TO VISIT AT CLARK
I am not aware of any recreation areas at Clark until I researched it. We were able to visit some of them.
- DUTY FREE – We had a short stop over here and we were able to buy a few items for Ren’s classmates and some imported chocolates that we haven’t tried yet.
- DINOSAURS ISLAND – Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to enter to check what’s inside. The entrance fee was quite pricey for me. It costs P350 for adult and P300 for kids.
- CLARK LAND – This is also besides the Dinosaurs Island. I saw some kids trying zipline and other fun activities inside.
- EL KABAYO – Noel and I found this place antique. We were not able to try riding a horse, but we got some photo ops from the place.
- NAYONG PILIPINO – Because of the time, we were not able to visit this place. But if you happen to go to Clark, then you might consider checking them out. I was so young when I first entered Nayong Pilipino at Pasay before and I hope we can visit them again soon.

The place sounds like a good getaway spot. And for a 5 star hotel, I find their tariff rates reasonable. But I am not sure if I can afford it as of now.. 😀
