How to do a Russell of UP Costume?
Hi! Hello! I’ve been busy (again) these past few days. It’s tiring but I am happy. Ren’s school had their own version of a Halloween Celebration last Friday and his therapy center last Saturday.
Yesterday (Sunday) we had our very first Halloween Celebration here at our village. When the letter from our Property Manager came out, hubby and I were excited for Ren. This is something new to him, because this will be his first time to visit one house after another. His dad and I prepared and planned everything (his costume and the house decorations), well mostly his dad did everything hehehe
As I have posted in my previous article, I was torn with what we are going to choose for Ren’s costume – Fred of Flintsones, Super Mario or Russell of Up. Most of the comments I have received here and in my personal FB page is Russell of UP. I have considered your suggestions so here is Ren’s Costume 🙂
He was the only one who have this costume and I love it. Unfortunately some kids haven’t watched the movie and thus they don’t know who Russel is, I heard this two boy talking about Ren’s costume:
Boy1: Naks galing ng costume……. napanood ko yan e…
Boy2: Asan ang magaling? Yan ba? E uniform lang yan
Boy1: Hindi yan yung bata sa…….. ano ngayon?
Me: …… sa UP!!! 🙂
I only spent exactly P250 for this Russell Costume. Here are the things we did to have this costume:
- We have used his school uniform because the color is near to yellow.
- I bought a Khaki shorts at Baclaran for P100.
- I bought the Orange handerchief (as a scarf) at SM Dept. Store for P49.
- The orange cap is from his Lola. But you can buy one for P60. We just printed the Wilderness Explorer Logo and I sewed it on the cap.
- I bought the dark brown fabric for the sash (1 Yard) for only P35.
- I bought the 3 balloons with stems at National Bookstore for P10 each.
- We used his own bag for the back pack and we just put some stuffs to make it a little bit like Russell’s bag 🙂
- We have old buttons that we used for the badges. His dad just printed Russell’s badges that we got through research (I forgot to get the link) and stick it to the old button. We also bought a pack of Inkjet Sticker Papers at Office Warehouse for P35.
That’s it…. he had fun trick or treating at the entire village. We were all very happy not only because of the candies that he got and we all shared together hahaha, but because of the experience of doing his costume (even though how simple it is) and getting to know some people and kids in the neighborhood (we barely see them kasi).
How about you? What is your kids’ costume this Halloween 2013?

Such a cutie. Lapit na Halloween Party ng Mommy Bloggers Philippines and we’re excited. I want to prepare 3 costumes for the 3 parties we’re gonna go to. Sana magawa ko. I’m still undecided which ones to make.

My daughter favors princess costumes during Halloween but I was able to dress her up as “Sadako” when she was 4 years old. I just told her that she’s dressed up as an angel 😀

awww cute! Years ago, when I was nowhere near becoming a mom and trick or treating started to be a thing here in the Philippines, I found it super weird – I thought, bakit, ang American naman! now, it looks like it really is already a thing, and one day I might find myself putting together a halloween costume for my twins as well! oh well, I guess if it means introducing more magic into our kids’ imagination, why not? hay, the things we do for our children, ha ha!

How awesome! UP is one of my favorite Disney/Pixar movies. I love how you were able to create a detailed costume on a budget! Last year my son was an elephant, I’m still searching for ideas for this this year’s Trick or Treat.

Ang cute naman!!! Which reminds me Halloween is just around the corner pala. Time to come up with an idea for my daughter’s costume, too. Sayang we won’t be able to join MBP’s Halloween Party. 🙁

I love how you made the badges! Galing! Hindi pa ba uso yung movie that time? Hehehe! My kids have never gone trick otr treating! Deprived ba? Hehehe! Wala kasi nag-invite sa amin, so they have never dressed up in costumes for Halloween.
