Bungang araw cure: Try Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder
I know it’s already the rainy season, but there are lots of mommies who emailed me and asked for some advice on How to Prevent and Treat Prickly Heat or Bungang Araw. I have tried some products when my son had a bungang araw (prickly heat), and here is one of them- Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder that I bought at Watsons. I bought this last summer and I can’t remember how much it cost me, but I am sure it is less than P100.00
According to the packaging: Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder with Anti-Bacteria agent has the original cooling, refreshing and soothing powder which is effective in relieving itching, prickly heat rash and skin irritation from hot weather. It contains anti-bacteria agents TCC and Tea Tree Oil that helps protect your skin and leave you feeling clean, refreshed and comforted. It is suitable for daily use for the whole family.
I remember that there are at least 3 variants of Snake Brands available at Watsons, but I have chosen the anti-bacterial variant because obviously to eliminate the bacteria. It was wrapped in a plastic so I was not able to know what it smells like when I bought it (if only I knew at the first time, then I would not buy it hahaha).
I don’t like the smell kasi, it’s so strong that it irritates my nose and my son as well. I think I only used it twice because I didn’t read that it has menthol as one of it’s ingredients and it is one of the forbidden items for my son with G6PD deficiency. He also doesn’t like the feeling everytime I used it on his back. According to him, “it’s hurt” daw, but I think that it’s because of the cooling sensation on his skin, na para kang may nakadikit na ice.
Besides the annoying smell, the product I think lessened his bungang araw so it is worth a try

Hi! I went to several watsons in makati. However they all didn’t have this product. Where else should I try looking for it? 🙂

The Snake brand prickly heat powder classic is actually 300g without the words – cooling and the ingredients has no camphor imported by Tan Heng Lee Singapore . Formerly one of the ingredients contain calamine powder . It is for EXPORT use. The ones you bought is found in Thailand stores and they are for home use which contain – camphor. It is advised not to use on toddlers . Teenagers having body odour and perspiring profusely should give it a try. Personally I have been using it for almost 30 years and I love its cooling menthol effect on hot days.
