Despicable Me 2 is Ren’s first movie at the Cinema

He whined at first, He asked to go out, He covered his ears for some scenes…. but he managed and overcame his fears till the movie ended.

Yesterday was the first day of the movie – Despicable Me 2.  I know that this is the perfect movie for Ren’s first time to go inside the cinema. He has some sensory issues (he is afraid of dark rooms and loud sounds), so going to a movie theater is really challenging to us.

After his class yesterday, we went straight to the nearest cinema in our area (SM Molino).   I decided to watch it there, because there are few people who go to this mall since it’s quite small.  Besides, since it is weekdays, there are only a few kids and families who will watch it.

Although I know that he will like the movie, we are still nervous that he will not go inside and that he will cry loudly (sayang pera, pag di kami nakanuod).  I am glad that SM Cinemas agreed to let me bring him inside for a minute (kahit sa lobby lang)  before we bought the tickets.   While we were at the lobby, I asked him if it’s okay, he said yes, and that was the only time I bought our 3 tickets (P150 each).

At exactly 11:30am, we entered the cinema.  When Ren saw the huge TV (projector), he was overwhelmed.  He was hesitant to go up, and he is asking us to go out (naku ito na!).  Daddy and I told him that it’s okay and that we will sit beside him and make sure he is safe.  And then, the National Anthem began to be played, masyado malakas nagtakip na sya ng tenga.  After that, nahimasmasan na sya and he settled down.

I also bought some popcorns and chips in case di sya kumalma (I know that it’s his weakness, and minsan lang naman).  Hubby and I were glad that there were few movie goer that day and that I think there were only at least 10 people inside the cinema.

We were so happy that Ren have finished watching the movie and he said that he liked it.  Wooohooo ang saya saya lang!!!!

I like to thank his therapist for telling us to expose him to the things he is afraid of so that he will learn to overcome it.

What we love about the movie DESPICABLE ME 2?

Despicable Me 2 is the perfect movie for kids because it’s hilarious and smart and it does not show violence even with the presence of the Evil Minions.  It’s also a great movie for adult and young at heart, my husband and I were teary eyed laughing to the silly characters.

It was really worth watching with the entire family.  We love to watch it again and again.
