Preparation for my son’s 1st visit to the Cinema
Last year, we had planned to take Ren to the Cinema and finally experience what it would be like inside. The Cars 2 movie was what we had planned to watch. He has some sensory issues and his Occupational Therapist advised us to expose him to the things he is afraid of so that he could overcome it on his own. He is afraid of dark rooms with loud/noisy sounds, it hurts his sensory so much that he needs to cry and get out of the place as soon as he can while covering his ears. Poor Ren you may say.
We prepared him by turning off the lights every night and let him watch Cars1. We thought we were ready, but when Cars 2 was already showing, daddy and I got cold feet and we thought we were the one who was not yet ready for that day. We were afraid that he will throw tantrums inside the Cinema and we might get in to trouble because of it.
This year, Despicable Me 2 will be on the cinemas starting July 3. Ren loves the minions so much and he loves watching Despicable Me 1. We are even collecting Mcdonald’s Happy Meal toys featuring the minions now. This time, I think he can control his sensory more.
We are excited to bring him to the Cinemas, and I think daddy and I are now more prepared as well. We might choose the earliest show or the last full show so that there will be few people there.
I can’t wait to share with you our experience after that. Excited lang ako 🙂

Such a wonderful experience to be at hand during the crucial stages of the development of our kids. We are the most significant people in their life and it is such a major impact on them when we do make ourselves available for them. I have one son as well and we just communicate on Skype since he is in Pinas and we are in Australia. Anyway job well done.
