Rock the fat away and Gain life back
I hate to admit it but I still have excess pounds to lose, and I am desperate to lose them before June 2013. After the bloggers challenge that I have joined last year, my lifestyle sadly came back to normal. Normal means being sedentary, and that sadden me to tell it to you now after giving some tips on how to lose weight before. It breaks my pride…
Maybe I am not that committed, maybe I don’t want to get out of my comfort zone, and maybe I am comfortable on what I am right now even though I know it’s bad and fat will kill me. So, what will I do??? I don’t know…. I don’t want to promise anything and not to commit.
All I know now is that if I want to Gain Life I should lose weight and leave the fat behind.
I consider myself as one of the 22.3% of Filipino Adults who are overweight according to a 2011 survey made by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) and 6.1% are obese. They expect that the number will increase significantly by 2015. Also, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) at least 2.8 Million adults die in each year as a result of being overweight or obese. Fatal conditions associated with obesity are diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, dyslipidemia, stroke, sleep apnea, cancer and many others.
The Philippine Association for the study of overweight and obesity (PASOO), Roche and Xenical launched a campaign entitled “Rock the Fat Away”, which addresses the serious problems of overweight and obesity.
Last Saturday, I joined fellow bloggers at Holiday Inn Makati to Rock the Fat Away. I blogged about this event at my lifestyle blog (read here). On the bloggers event, after a sumptuous buffet lunch, we were asked to Rock the fat away by doing Zumba.
I love the effect of doing the group zumba, the feeling is different when you do it with a group compared to doing it alone. I think I need to join a group exercise to help me shed more pounds, because I enjoyed it so much.
On the other hand, the public was given a Health Passport Journey that shows how to be healthy and have better lives with event partners like Chris Sports, Beauty Bar, Lightwater, Vibram Fivefingers, Yelloe Halo Guilt-Free Kitchen, Shinagawa Lasik and Aesthetics and Pipino Vegetarian Food by Pino.
Attendees who have completed the challenge, got to take away these stuffs
