List of Preschool in Manila
As early as now, if you decide to enroll your kids ages 3 to 4 years old next school year, then you should hunt for preschools near your area already. Gone are the days that the only criteria of parents in choosing a school was it should be the NEAREST preschool in the neighborhood.
Now, parents has lots of criterias in choosing preschools for their kids.
Some of the criterias are the following:
1. Teaching Method
- Traditional– teacher being the controller of the learning environment. This is most practiced during my time
- Progressive– is the opposite of traditional method where students is expected to follow and do what the teachers told them. Here they are given a problem that they should solve based on what they think will be right. They emphasis learning through doing and hands on projects.
- Montessori – is characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological development, as well as technological advancements in society. This method believed that children at liberty to choose and act freely within an environment prepared according to their model.
- Developmentally Approach Practice (DAP) – encourages teachers to make choices about education based on sound knowledge of child development and learning processes while taking into account individual differences and needs, as well as social and cultural constructs.
2. Student Ratio – Some Traditional schools have 1 teacher to more or less 20-30 students. Those who prefer other approach have a 1:15 ratio or 1 teacher and 1 teacher aide to 10 to 15 students. As for me, I prefer a small group since my son may be overwhelmed with a large group and so that the teachers can teach them easily.
3. School Materials and space- for me the area should be safe for any kids. I prefer if the school has a play area that kids can use for breaktime.
4. Location- look around your area first.
5. Tuition Fee- most private preschools now has a tuition fee that range from 30-100 thousand a year. Only few offers tuition fee around 10-20 thousand. It is just sad that even though you love a certain school, the tution fee discourages you to enroll your child there.
My son is currently enrolled to a Montessori school here in Sta. Ana (Global Gleam Montessori). I don’t have any problems with the school, the teachers and the administration. I even recommend them if you are near the area and you want a montessori kind of teaching. But his Occupational therapist advised us to try other methods of teaching next school year (2012-2013) , so I am thinking of transferring him to a preschool that uses a Progressive teaching method.
Yesterday, I hunted for preschools in our place and here are some I have visited.

Hi Mommies,
I live nearby Pedro Gil.
I have a toddler turning 3 this December. I’m Planning to enroll her next year to a montessori type school. Can you recommend a school with a less than 10 students per class? Noahs ark sounds good, but with the 18-20 ratio it’s quite a lot for my toddler.
Hope you can help. Thank You!

If you’re looking for an exceptional preschool in Manila with a reasonable price, TFTL is for you. The school is located beside Dominican Highschool along Dos Castillas St. Sampaloc Manila. It has programs for Nursery, Kindergarten and Prep students. SMART MATH has been incorporated into the school’s curriculum so you can expect your child to beat you in mental math.
The school has been providing quality education for 17 years. Its track record can be seen as it has brought out the potential of many children who were admitted in La Salle Greenhills, Saint Pedro Poveda, San Lorenzo Assumption, Lourdes and other exclusive schools. Some of them have actually been accelerated skipping Grade 1. Other services such as tutorials and summer are available. Hi, can anybody recommend a list of progressive schools in Manila? Thank you!
Edwin E. Paras says
Lumipat kami ng school from Global Gleam to Noah’s Ark ang bago nilang place yun dating shakeys. At recognized na rin pala sila this school year.

Noah’s Ark Angel in Pedro Gil is a good school kasi ma feel mo ang dedication at commitment ng bawat nag work dun. Turo very good may karisma sila sa mga bata.
caren says
I heard about Noah’s Ark Angel ….from old address nag move po sila sa dating shakey’s sa may kanto ng Medel St. Sta. Ana. I visited their school very child friendly at ang pinaka maganda limited number of student lang sila per class. Sa pre school 18 to 20, sa grades 1 to 6 25 to 28 per class. It’s a Christian School kasi may christian integration ang curriculum nila parang maagang values ang dating. Ration is one teacher with teacher aide sa pre school at ang isang maganda sa kanila di umaalis ang teacher in the middle of the school year. They do have toddlers po 1.8 years old natanggap na sila.

Noah’s Ark is just in front of Global Gleam (Sta. Ana area)

New location of Noah’s Ark is at the old venue of Shakey’s Sta. Ana 🙂
ELLE says
According to my daughter who is now incoming Grade 6 this school year (2016-2017), mas gusto niya ang Noah’s. Mababait ang teachers 😊
Nag grade 1-3 siya sa St. Anthony of Makati Montessori, grade 4 sa Global Gleam Montessori, then grade 5 sa Noah’s.
Jacob ELias says
Hi Elle,
Mas ok ba ang turo sa Noah’s Ark.. how much is the tuition fee? Pinagpipilian ko ksi ung bagong St. Anthony sa P.Gil or Noah’s Ark in coming grade 1 and 3 na ung mga anak ko. Naisip ko ksi dahil bago ung St. Anthony nasa trial stage pa lng sila..
Mommy Levy says
Jacqueline Q. says
I wouldn’t say useless ang books nila because we actually like them. Informative and advance. It’s just that most of it are taught by parents..Sana ganun rin books sa noah.
Now i have my toddler na papasok ngaung 2016-2017 school year, nag iisip pa rin ako kung saan ko papapasukin.

Parang 1st week -3 can ligo sized corned beef, 3 meatloaf, 3 sardines..2nd week-…coffee 300 grams…etc…What was written was really specific, may flavors, may grams pa. Nakasulat will be checked by the supervisors etc…Nung tinanong ng asawa ko sa Principal he told him na every year ganun raw tradition ng montessorri, sabihan pa sya ng common sense raw, kung ano lang gusto ibigay kasi may parents raw na nagcocomplain walang nakalagay kung ano ang pwedeng idonate (Kailangan pa ba itanong yun kung ang nakalagay eh donate anything??, Wtf..). Ganyan ba sumagot ang principal? walang galang. If they really wanna donate walang pwersahan, kung ano lang gusto idonate, or yung school na lang mismo.
Jacqueline Q. says
Eh my son can read since last year kaya mejo hindi nahirapan teacher magturo. He turned 4 last September. Parang hindi sya natututukan sa school. Tadtad ng homework ang bata. Every month may exam. And it sucks na binibilisan nila magturo..I mean magdikit ng kung anu-ano sa notebook tapos kami rin magtuturo. Example exam nila bukas, ngayon may bago na kasama sa exam bukas. Nagkakamali pa sa mga posting. Na prepressure ang bata pati kami. Nung nag exam sila ng Our Father, Hail Mary at Glory be kami nagturo sa bata. It’s like 1 week time. 1 subject lang yun. He got like 6 or s. Ibibigay nila pointers ng exam 3 days before examination. Nakakainis talaga.
Jacqueline Q. says
So at first I thought ok yung global gleam kasi montessorri. Yung uniform late dumating. They have miscellaneous fees/other fees para in case ma accident yung student. No clinic. Kung may sakit bata hindi pwede gamitin yung sa other fees kasi pang “accidents that happened within school premises” lang yun. You can’t see what’s going on inside the classroom. May CCTV pero nasa principal’s office. Actually I like their books kasi ang hirap. The thing is I dunno how the teachers teach my son kasi ang daming homework lagi. My son insist that his teacher is right. Nung teacher’s day required sila magdala ng mga kakanin, I dunno where that went. They have this Mr. & Ms. Global something tapos mandatory na babayaran ang ticket. This coming November meron silang outing, and if the kid doesn’t attend bibigyan yata ng homework. My son just turned 4 tapos sa Subic ang outing nila, hindi man lang sila nagpa meeting sa mga parents since they are so young. My husband told me na there were this couple suggesting kung pwede sila gumamit ng own car kasi maliit pa yung bata baka magkalat sa bus, they will pay the fee fully, ayaw pumayag ng school. Latest thing that pissed us off eh ngayong semestral break. They gave homework na hindi pa na tackle ng bata, like addition and subtraction etc..e di parang kami na rin nagturo.. it’s like 80% taught by parents, 20% sa school. This 4 weeks of November (every week) kailangan nila mag donate para raw sa mahirap. Nakalagay pa kung anong ibibigay. I’m so disappointed really. Sa tingin ko marami pang gastos next year. We’re planning on transferring school next year.
You better look for other schools next school year. Try noah’s ark angel. It’s a progressive school. Your child doesn’t need to bring any school materials, just books. Provided nila ang pencils and crayons.lahat ng books puro exercises so nahahasa ang bata writtten and orally.
Mommy Levy says
I heard good reviews of Noah’s Ark too
ellie says
hi! agree ako sa comment ni kenneth about this school.
WTF?!!! I don’t recommend this school to other parents out there na nag babalak ienroll ang mga anak dito.
Mommy Levy says
What school are you referring po?
nicka says
Hi ask k lng daughter ko kc upcoming nursery2 at the age of 4 this may at paco catholic (pcs) kya lang parang over populated na kc dun and they increased 5k above to their tuition fee. Almost 31k na for nursery1 & 2. Dati naman 27k lng. So im planning to transfer my daughter lalo na ung baby brother nya is almost 2y/o na so magastos. Do u think practical lang na ilipat ng school like global gleam kahit na til grade 6 lng ung meron sila. Nd saka ililipat ng high school? Nd ask ko rin lang nung nka enrol dun ung son mo what are the subjects they teach? Thank you so much. Nd bka may mrecommend ka pa aside sa global gleam. 🙂
Mommy Levy says
Your daughter is still young, I recommend to enroll her in smaller class size. Check Noah’s Ark (just in front of Global Gleam). Global Gleam use Motessori method of teaching that is why I like it there before. I don’t think my son kasi will fit in a traditional method of teaching.
kenneth says
If kaya ng bata ang demand and challenges sa Public School why not? I believe that hindi lahat ng public school panget ang turo, minsan mas maganda pa nga kesa private schools. If ang bata mas bagay sa Progressive school, then I advise ilagay sa Progressive school which unfortunately wala pang public school ang gumagawa.
kendrix says
we we’re so disappointed with global gleam, im sorry to say this. they are so crowded now. we have expected that their class in junior advance casa would be only 17 students maximum as they have said during the enrollment but during the first day of class we have discovered that they were 22 in the class. ratio of 1:22 and they wanted to transfer our children to another time slots but we knew we got an early enrollment reservations. during the third quarter they merged the 2 sections of JAC because one the teacher’s resigned so they were almost 44 in class, it’s like we sent our children to a public school and we don’t know how do they handle that number of students during class hours.
Mommy Levy says
Oh my 🙁 I will feel the same way Ken. I hope they will do something about this.
Maebelle Evangelista says
Hi! I am a Speech and Language Pathologist and my 6yo daughter currently attends OT sessions to address her aggression. She wasnt diagnosed and she was doing well in a traditional set up. However, she gets easily bored and that’s when the problems in behavior arise. My daughter is really advanced for her age. I am planning to enroll her in OB but the tuition is very expensive. I am considering global gleam for her, who’ll be in grade 2 next yr, and for my 3yo son. Can you please describe their classroom setup? Are kids separated in groups or stations like in OB and then when they’re done with one subject they move on to the next? I hope you will reply in my email. Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to ask kung operational pa ba ang global gleam Montessori school? My son will be turning 3 next year so I’m scouting for quality yet affordable preschools that is near our place (Santa Ana, Manila). Ako lang kasi ang may work, my husband takes care of our son at home. Sana advanced yung teaching para maraming matutunan, my son gets bored easily pag alam na nya yung tinuturo. Hope to hear your ideas. Thanks!

By the way, my nephews are studying at Jesus Reigns Academy. The tuition fee there is very affordable (lower than Aguinaldo International School). They also develop their student to be well-rounded and God-fearing. I like their Christian education and values. Although its a Christian private school they are open to all kinds of belief. They also have interest group (they called it IG). The students can choose their own interest from theater arts, dancing, choir, learning how to play different musical instruments, and sports like basketball and swimming. They also have annual concert and Christmas concert participated by students from grade school, high school, and college.
I can also recommend this school. The school building was built last year, its very conducive to learning.
Venus Espina says
My daughter is incoming Grade 2 student in Aguinaldo International School (in fact today is her first day of school), and was the outstanding Grade 1 student last school year. When I transferred my daughter there, we were really amazed on her improvements. She used to be so shy and quiet, but in a matter of months she became confident, outgoing, and her English really improved a lot (by the way, since its an international school they are not allowed to speak Filipino language unless its Filipino subject. Even during meal time or waiting time the school is strict and required their students to speak English only within school premise). They also have Mandarin classes from Grade 1 to High School. Their curriculum is based on international studies, and they incorporated the standard DepED courses. What I like about the school is the balance between academic and non-academic activities. They develop their students to be well-rounded. My daughter was able to join their annual musical play last year, I was so proud of her and never imagined that my used to be shy daughter can perform on stage confidently. I like their theater, where they perform their annual school play, and their gym, especially the olympic size swimming pool. They encourage their students to actively participate in any sports that the school offers like swimming, basketball, volleyball, soccer, chess, and others. They also have other after school activities which are really cheap like book club, gardening, yoga, ballet, choir, junior chef, among others.
The school personnel are friendly. The guards are strict not allowing the kids to get out of school without their “sundo.” They have elevator operator so it would be safer for kids to go up to their classrooms from 2nd floor to 5th floor. They also encourage the kids to eat only nutritious food. The students are not allowed to have junk foods. They will be given demerits if they bring junk foods.
My daughter excelled academically and her personality was developed. And my 3-year old son is also now enrolled in their Whiz Kids course. The tuition fee is very affordable (the cheapest among international schools). Yes, I recommend this school. However,if there is one thing I don’t like about the school is their school building. Although the classrooms are air-conditioned, and they have new classrooms and playground built, they are sharing the building with Emilio Aguinaldo College (the 2 schools have the same owner). They don’t have their own school building since the population is still small (15 students per class), although they already have building plan as discussed in parent-teacher meeting, I don’t think it will be materialized soon.
ms.ysq says

I think, it depends on what kind of teaching do you prefer- Montessori style or International way of teaching. Also, check your budget on choosing which school and the location. I think both school are good naman 🙂

Hi Sis, this is really a very informative post. Thank you. I came across your blog as I googled Jesus Reigns Academy, it’s my top choice for now to enroll my 4 year old for this school year. I’m a widowed Mom so I really have to consider the budget. We live near Vito Cruz, Manila. Is there anyone you know personally who has a kid in Jesus Reigns? And I will also inquire about Global Gleam, the distance is pretty decent, as long na may school bus naman.
Hoping to hear from you. Thanks sis!

Im not sure if meron school bus sa global gleam coz it’s just a very small school.
marie says
Thanks Al for answering my queries 🙂
May I also know kung how young yung pinaka bata na tinatanggap nila? Junior casa nga ba yung start?
Would really appreciate your help.
Thanks!
Al says
@Marie, my daughter goes to Global gleam and the teachers are very good, she started this summer and already we saw a big difference in attitude toward learning, actions, and demeanor. and yes majority of the kids speak english.
@Levy for preogressive learning i would suggest KIDS Kids.In.Day.School they are one of the best although the price is a bit steep but really good if you live in the sta ana area

thank you Al for answering Marie’s question 🙂 We now resides here in Cavite, so dito na lang ako naghahanap ng school.
We miss Global Gleam and the friendly teachers and staffs. I highly recommend this school.

Im very much interested in sending my daughter sa global gleam. More on english din kasi usap namin sa kanya. English din naman siguro yung mode of teaching nila like the other montessori schools di ba? Hindi naman tag-lish like the other preschool?
Thanks! 🙂
marie says
And how young po ang tinatanggap nila? Thanks again!

Mommy Levy says
What do you mean Panget? Teaching? or Location lang?
Rose says
Hi, I’m thingking of Aguinaldo international School. Any feedback kung maganda turo dun, but from their website ata progressive sya? I want kasi a school that teaches English as their medium of intsruction and the ratio of teacher:student.
Mommy Levy says
I heard that the ratio of their students per class is 2:10.
Levy says
Hi, yes we recommend Global Gleam Montessori school. The administrations are nice, the staffs and teachers are friendly and competent. The tuition fee is very affordable compared to other Montessori schools (2 yrs ago it was only 15K a year- miscellaneous fee not included)
