PLAY at Okada Manila Overview
Yesterday Feb. 3, our family received an invite to get a first glimpse of a new family friendly indoor fun facility at Okada Manila. The area is called PLAYΒ and it stands for Purposeful Learning and Activities for the Young.
It is located at the Coral Wing Upper Ground Floor inside Okada. They will be open to the public starting Feb. 10 from 10AM to 10PM (Sundays to Thursdays) and from 10AM to 12 midnight (Fridays and Saturdays).
Ren was so excited when I told him about this new place. When he was still a toddler, I’ve been bringing him to a lot of play areas around the metro already. He’s our only child and because there’s only a few kids in the neighborhood (some are even older than him), I thought that a play area is the best place to help him socialize, explore and experience what it feels like to be a child.
PLAY at Okada Manila
ItΒ has the following facilities:
Wizard’s Den – it is an interactive area where your gestures create different types of fire balls to defeat mythical creatures.
Mini Steps and Mini Me – a fully padded and dedicated space for babies and toddlers to enjoy tummy time and play time with slides, padded see-saws, cubes and ball pit. There is also an interactive floor where they can enjoy 10 different features that explore sight, sound and movement.
Little Town – allows your child hands-on play in a bank, postal, school, grocery and home improvement to gain valuable learning and practical experience of every day grown-up life.
Little Park – a two-level playground and maze where toddlers can enjoy slides, a climbing wall, zip line, barrel roll, giant tic-tac-toe and various other obstacles to spend their limitless energy and explore their physical strength.
Sportz Zone – an artificial grass court for sports games
Janguru – a multi level playground and maze (for kids over 110cm) that also has wave slides, a drop slide, turbo slide, obstacle courses, rope and wave bridges, an interactive gaming floor and other play features plus enclosed tree huts where pocket activities and some coach-led programs take place.
The stage – unleash the inner performer and allow your child to cultivate their singing, dancing, acting and public speaking skills.
My Party Place – a dedicated space where you can celebrate your little one’s birthday, corporate event, team building activity or a special occasion like children’s themed party or baby shower.
What’s the difference of PLAY with any other play areas out there?
First of all, they have scheduled programs:
COLORS and CREATIONS. This is an art and crafts program designed to develop creativity and imagination by improving the use of fine motor skills through detailing, color coordination and artistic impression plus work behavior like sitting tolerance, focus and concentration.
YTT (Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow) is a program to enhance the child’s development as they explore the world around them. There are also sessions for caregivers to stay updated and improve their communication, childminding and domestic engineering skills. Here you will also find one-on-one sessions for your child’s specific tutorial and occupational therapy needs (speech therapy, physical therapy, math, science and reading session).
MUSIC and MOVEMENT, this is a group session that focus on music, dance and the performing arts.
LIFE SKILLS, these are classes that focus on practical matters such as social graces, good housekeeping, creative writing skills, anti-bullying, natural remedies, aromatherapy and personal nutrition.
Second, the coaches have backgrounds in education (major in Special Education) and they even have therapists that facilitate the kids in the above mentioned programs.
They only offer a minimum 5 hours stay in the area. They have a storage room for shoes and a locker room for other stuff. They also have their own snack bar inside the area.
It can be quite cold inside the area, so it’s advisable to wear long sleeve and pants. If you have a bedroom slipper I think that’s okay to bring and wear around the area.
There’s bedroom slippers at their comfort room too.
You can also buy toys and other stuff at their store upon exiting the area
They will publish the time of their scheduled program soon so stay tuned on that.
