SK-II Cleanser, Essence, Lotion, Mask Sheet and RNA cream Review

Last week, I received my order from Sephora.PH containing SK II products (read my purchasing experience plus unboxing HERE). I am not that familiar with this brand because first of all, I am not that vain in my skin regimen until just recently. I usually use Korean brands since those are what’s in nowadays.

Skin care products are more appealing to me than make ups. I only apply, eyebrows, lipstick and powder when I go out so it’s important for me to have a nice bare skin. Unfortunately because I am a late bloomer in taking care of my skin particularly the face, I know that there are consequences with it. That includes visible pores, acne scars, dark spots and even a few lines.

It’s a good thing that the universe I think wanted me to have a make over so Sephora offered me to try SK II. When I saw it at the Sephora site I was surprised to know how expensive they are. Before saying Yes to the deal (yes choosy pa’ko), I did some research about it first and read reviews. There are more good reviews about it than bad ones so I decided to say yes and try it too.

What ingredients can you find with SK II that you can’t get from any other brands? Pitera.

How to use it? Here’s a step by step procedure:

1. SK II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser – use it just like any ordinary cleanser.

2. SK II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion – use it like a toner. Pour an appropriate amount onto a cotton pad and gently wipe over the T-zone, followed by the U-zone from the center outwards then over the neck.

3. SK II Facial Treatment Essence – After toning the skin, pour an appropriate amount of essence onto a cotton pad then gently pat onto your face and neck.

But according to this video, you can just put it on your palm, then spread the essence between your palms. Then let the warm of your hands radiate into your face as you gently pat the essence on your face. Starting from the middle and moving outwards. Then massage it onto your neck.

4. SK II Facial Treatment Mask – Place it over your eye areas first then gently spread over face and pat firm. Remove the mask after 5-15 minutes.

5. SK II R.N.A Power Radical New Age – You can skip the mask if you don’t have one and use this after the SK II Facial Treatment Essence . Just take an appropriate amount of cream onto the palm. Dot on the forehead, cheeks and chin then gently spread all over the face.

I’ve been using these products for 1 week now (except for the mask since I only have 1 sheet).

What I Like? 

• It’s made in Japan. I love anything Japanese haha.
• The steps are lesser compared to the 9 steps beauty regimen of Korean products.
• Some of the reviewers mentioned about the scent and they don’t like it. I don’t know if SK II made an improvement about it because I did not smell any strong scent in every products I’ve used. The scent for me is mild to unrecognizable.
• You only need a little amount for your face, because it is easily absorbed by your skin. A friend told me that her essence lasted for a year.
• I felt that my skin is moisturized and hydrated compared before. The first pic was taken last week, the 2nd one on the right was taken yesterday (after I’ve used the mask in the morning). I don’t know if the lighting has something to do with it but both are taken outside.

What I Don’t Like? 

• Pricey
• I am not 100% satisfied with the mask. It cost P1,000 (approximately around $25) per piece. A friend gave me a gold mask worth P200 ($5) also from Japan before and I think it is better than the SK II mask.

I am hoping that SK-II will help me look fresh & awake despite juggling blogging & motherhood. Four years from now I’ll be in my 40’s and by that time I’m hoping to have a clear and smooth skin. I’ll continue visiting a derma center and do my beauty regimen religiously.
