Not yet ready to talk
I am worried right now; Ren (my son) haven’t started to talk yet. He’s already 2 years old and yet he hasn’t able to say a whole word or a sentence although as I have said in my recent post that he already knows how to recite the alphabet and can even identify letters whenever he saw one. Just recently, he learned how to say “eyes”, “nose’ and “mouth”. I can’t say that he has a hearing problem because if he does he will not learn his alphabet.
Compared to other children with the same age as him, they are already talking and even knows how to sing. The only reason I think why he is delayed is that the two of us are the only persons in the house, and that I don’t talk to him every minute of the day. He usually watches Brainy Baby or Fantasia while I do my online things. The Pediatrician told me that he should start saying one to two sentences by now. She even said that Ren must start talking on or before December, if not she will require us to enroll him to a speech therapist.
My mom said that girls mature first compared to boys (which I strongly agree, based on personal experience), so I must not worry too much. She even said that he will start talking when he is ready and will eventually become a non-stop-talker by then.
For me, although these words from my mom help me not to worry too much, still I wish that he would begin to start to talk right now. I want to know his feelings and thoughts. I want him to tell us when he needs to “wee wee” or “poo poo” so that he will no longer need to wear diapers anymore.
