A new danger threatens to hit the Philippines!
PAG-ASA confirmed today that a new “Super” typhoon will hit the Philippines once it makes landfall on Saturday Afternoon (October 3). The new storm is said to bring more rains and very strong winds in the Norther Luzon area including Metro Manila. They said that this new typhoon “Pepeng” is a lot stronger than the last typhoon “Ondoy” in terms of wind intensity. Ondoy is only half of the strength of Pepeng.
While I was writing about this, I received a text message from my friend Dennis that according to CNN the coming storm is now a category 5 Super typhoon. I am so afraid with this coming typhoon, what more are those from Marikina that until now haven’t recovered yet from the aftermath of typhoon “Ondoy”. We really need to pray badly because this is the only weapon we have during these crises. I hope that the track of this coming typhoon would change tomorrow, I am not praying for it to hit countries nearby but I want it to just fade away.
For all the people in Northern Luzon and those here in Metro Manila please take precautionary measures, here are some tips we all should do:
- Store enough foods especially biscuits, breads, canned goods and drinking water, be sure that these may last for few days. Rice and noodles for me is not the best food to store because you still have to cook it.
- Typhoons brings in rains and winds so make sure to have jackets, raincoats, umbrellas and boots, in case you need it. We can also use an inflatable bed in case we need to use as a make-shift boat so that we can move if ever the water level becomes very high in the area, it is more cheaper than rubber boats.
- Store medicines for diarrhea, headache and bodyache.
- Make sure your home is strong enough to withstand potential gusty winds and flash floods. If you’re in doubt of your place then it is advisable to go to the designated evacuation areas nearby.
- Prepare rechargeable lamps, candles and flashlights in case of brown outs.
- Always stay tuned to news updates, so it is advisable to have portable radios.
- If your home is safe enough, just stay indoors before and during the typhoon to ensure safety. During typhoons, we must be careful in venturing outside, electric wires might fall down the streets and compromise safety. Same goes for falling, or even flying debris, which are the usual cause of injuries and casualties.
I hope these tips helps. Again, lets continue praying and I believe that God will do something about it.
what ever happens in life we should always remember to live life to the fullest
