Parents Learn while the Kids Play at KidZania Manila
KidZania Manila is one of the places Ren and I love to visit. This summer alone, we’ve been there thrice.
I know that Kidzania Manila is a facility built and designed safely for children. All visitors who enter KidZania Manila will be required to wear a security bracelet. Each child will be matched with a corresponding adult who will also wear a RFID security bracelet. No child will be allowed to leave the facility without being accompanied or fetched by the registered adult. Professional security and other measures such as CCTV monitoring cameras, paging system, and emergency facility features will be in place to ensure that each child remains safe while inside KidZania Manila.
But whenever we’re here I always follow Ren wherever he wants to go (nakakapagod sa totoo lang).
Not until last Saturday wherein I let him go out and explore the place on his own while I was with other mommies inside the Parents lounge to attend a FREE parents talk. Before I let him go, I told him to just choose what store he wants to go and go back to me at the parents lounge if he needs me. Of course, andyan yung kaba, but after the talk and he went back to me I was surprised that when I checked his pazzport he was able to try 3 jobs on his own… wow! nakaka proud 🙂
The parents lounge is where moms and dads can relax while the kids can play unsupervised. There is a McCafe in the area where you can order coffee and snacks. There are comfortable chairs, charging area, books to read, TV to watch a movie and of course free wifi.
KidZania Manila Parents Talk
This is a FREE seminar talk for all the parents who will visit Kidzania Manila with their kids. It is held inside the Parents Lounge. You can check the schedule at KidZania Manila’s FB page.
The talks started last March and here are the topics:
1st Talk : Resilience: How to Teach Your Kids to be Mentally Tough by Educational Leadership and Management expert, Dr. Maricar Gustilo-de Ocampo
2nd Talk: Healthy Bento Box Workshop by Kat Maderazo of BentoByKat
3rd Talk: Teaching Money the Fun way by Financial Quotient Mom, Rose Fres Fausto
I’m happy to be able to attend the third talk. I consider myself not a newbie in handling our finances. I have read some financial books already to educate myself. My favorite is the Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. It’s the first financial book that I have read, then followed by Simplify and Live the Good Life / My Maid invests in the stock market / How to Conquer your Goliaths by Bo Sanchez and many more.
Because of the knowledge I got from reading these books, I have avoided borrowing money and started paying and finishing some debts and I also got a life insurance for me and my husband.
But to be honest, I still have a lot of things to do to be able to call myself financially self-sufficient.
BASIC LAW OF MONEY
There are different kinds of rules of money as per authors but this one from Rose Fausto is the most basic I heard so far.
First : Pay Yourself First – A part of all you earn is yours to keep.
Second : Get only into a business you understand. Seek advice only from competent people.
Third : Make your gold work for you. Make an army of golden slaves before you buy luxury.
You can learn more about these rules on her book The Retelling of the Richest Man in Babylon you can get this book for only P150.00 in any bookstores. I’m sure your kids will like this book too.
We also had some personal sharing during the talk. The event is really enlightening. I took a pledge to do whatever I learned here and I am positive and looking forward to achieve financial freedom soon.
