Our Family Staycation at Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay
Hotel Staycation and visiting new places is one of the things that we love to do as a family. Tagaytay is not far from where we live here in Cavite but we’ve never tried to explore the place yet. The last time we went there was when Ren was still a baby and we only visited the Picnic Grove and Pink Sisters Convent, which were the only attractions we knew at that time.
When we stayed at Nurture Village, Noel and I told ourselves that we will go back and explore Tagaytay more. That time has come last Friday when Noel and I decided to celebrate our birthdays at this cold place.
As I have mentioned in my Sky Ranch post, I have bought a voucher from Deal Grocer for a Taal Vista Staycation last October 2013. I bought it using my blogging money. I always want to visit that hotel ever since my husband’s cousin had their wedding reception there last 2005.
RECEPTION AREA
The staff of Taal Vista were very accommodating and warm.
We went there at around 1PM and they let us check in early. They asked for a Php 2,000.00 deposit that is refundable upon checking out because our stay was already been paid. This rule was not indicated in the voucher so I was surprised.
THE ROOM
Our assigned room was located at the Lake Wing of the hotel. It is a Deluxe 30-sqm high-ceiling room with one (1) king sized bed. The design of the room is like our room at Solaire Hotel only it’s smaller.
The toiletries are okay, there’s nothing special about it.
Here is the view from our room.
Ren has a positive review of the room watch it here:
If the room got a positive review from Ren, there were a few things that Noel and I didn’t like though. The bed was a little bit hard and we prefer bigger and fluffier pillows. The toilet could have been better if there was a bidet.
There were also no bathrobes and the room slippers were so thin (sobrang nipis).
We would like to commend the HD TV and the fast internet connection though.
ACTIVITIES/ENTERTAINMENT/RELAXATION
While waiting for our room, we went to the view deck. It’s overlooking the Taal Volcano and the lake, but unfortunately it’s so cloudy during our stay that we did not get any good shots of the view.
Upon checking in, around 4PM while Noel is already asleep, Ren and I decided to go around the hotel. We checked the pool, the kiddie corner, play area and the gym which you can use for free.
Taal Vista also has a spa if you want to have a massage and pamper yourself. It is open from 10:00am to 9:00pm on weekdays (Sunday to Thursday), and from 10:00am to 12:00mn on weekends.
THE FOOD
I thought that my voucher includes a breakfast buffet, so I was surprised when I printed it and it said “room only”. They offered us Php 1,000.00 additional charge for a buffet breakfast for 2 at Cafe Veranda while Ren has a 50% discount, but we decided not to have our breakfast there anymore.
Here are the rates at Cafe Veranda:
Breakfast Buffet Php699.00++
Weekday Lunch Buffet Php788.00++
Friday Dinner Buffet Php888.00++
Saturday Lunch Buffet Php988.00++
Saturday Dinner Buffet Php888.00++
Sunday Lunch Buffet Php988.00++
But, we bought this Mango Tango for P80.00 as our birthday cake kunwari hahaha. It is available at Taal Vista’s Lobby Lounge. We all love it’s taste.
VERDICT
The reason why I want to stay at Taal Vista is because of it’s name. I have also read good reviews from co-bloggers about this place, but unfortunately Noel and I were not that impressed. I am glad that we got our room at a discounted price.
Are we going to visit the place again? Well, maybe.
… and of course our obligatory family picture.

I don’t remember much about our stay there, it was a few years back. Yes, bidet should always be present. Anyway, good thing they have HD TV and fast internet connection, haha.

This looks so great! I was in the Philippines in January 2013 and I definitely wanted to go here but even after staying a whole month, we didn’t have time 🙁 Too much family to see after 20+ years of being away! Thanks for sharing!

I’d like to experience having a staycation at Taal Vista Hotel, too. I hope our experience (which hopefully will happen soon) will be a lot better. Ang laki na ni Ren!

Haven’t tried checking in there though I heard lots of good reviews about it. I’m not a fan of buying vouchers online kasi nagkakaproblem. Minsan, eto yung deal but pagdating sa place, iba pa pala. It’s a good thing you’re prepared for emergencies like that.
