Dengue, stay away from my family!
If only I can shoo all the mosquitoes away by simply saying this word then it would be easier.
I can’t explain the feeling when I heard the news from my mom that my sister had a Dengue, this happened 7 years ago. I know that Dengue is a dreaded disease and if not treated ASAP, it may kill someone who has it. Having a Dengue is very tricky, it has the same symptoms as flu (high fever, muscle-and-joint pains and rashes). It is frightening that when you ignore it, it could be fatal. I thanked the Lord that my sister got well. But having a Dengue already doesn’t make her or any one else immune to the disease, we are all vulnerable to have it. This is the reason why she is so afraid of mosquitoes. As in sobrang praning! Well, sino ba namang hindi?
I didn’t have a kid back then when that happened to her. Now that I have one, I am more terrified not only for myself but most especially for my son and for my entire family. I don’t want any of them to have this, it gives me the chills just by thinking of it.
I am glad that Green Cross contacted me to be one of their mommy bloggers that will spread the news on how we can protect ourselves and families against Dengue. To help us in doing that, they have recently released their new product – Green Cross Insect Repellent. I have known Green Cross for a long time, and I know that their products have gained a good reputation on sanitation, hygiene and helping Filipinos to fight germs causing diseases through their various products.
They gave me some samples of the said products to try. They have 3 variants (Active Protect, Family Protect and our favorite, Gentle Protect).
The Gentle Protect in the tube was not in the picture because I was too excited to bring it at my son’s school. When I tried and smelled it, I instantly fell in love with it. It smells ohhh so good!!!
I don’t have to worry anymore if I will apply it anywhere (especially inside an air conditioned Public Utility Vehicle) because people will not be irritated with it’s smell unlike with our previous insect repellents. His school always reminds their students to put on their Insect Repellent from the time they arrive. The Gentle Protect has an 8 hours protection and I just put it again during the night. Yes, you heard it right, even at night. Through a clinical study conducted by Filipino entomologists, it has been confirmed that a dengue-lamok specie (dengue-carrying mosquitoes) bite not only during the day but at night as well. That is why mommies, we need to be extra careful and vigilant all day long ( I will post more information about that on my next article, so stay tuned)
Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotions are available at leading supermarkets and grocery stores nationwide.

The threat of dengue has made all of us paranoid moms. Glad to hear that Ren is now protected from dengue. My son, on the other hand, goes to school wearing a mosquito-repellant bracelet, and we also have a mosquito-repellant gel at home, one in our living room and another one in our bedroom. Better be safe than sorry!

oh nice! We always bring mosquito repellent when traveling lalo na sa beaches. I think the only brand is Autan, hope we get green cross here soon! Aside from repellent, plant lemon grass to make mosquito go away, they can’t stand the awesome smell of that plant. 🙂

Green Cross has its own line of insect repellent na pla. I use Off Lotion sa lil kiddo ko but might try this one after maubos yung laman nung Off. Hay, nkakatakot talga yung Dengue kaya as much as possible kelangan gumamit ng insect repellent pra makaiwas. 🙂

I don’t like the smell of OFF Lotion. You should try the Gentle Protect, it smells good and will protect you from Dengue Mosquitoes for up to 8 hours.
