Smart Plastics Start Here: Meet Champion Bags
In a world grappling with overwhelming plastic waste, Champion Bags offers Filipinos a meaningful way to take action—starting right at home. Trusted in over 20,000 stores across Thailand, this leading eco-friendly trash bag brand is officially arriving in the Philippines, marking a significant step toward cleaner and more conscious living.
The launch was formalized through a contract signing event in Bangkok, signaling the start of a promising partnership that aims to bring practical sustainability to every Filipino household.

Purpose Meets Passion
For Joshua Abrera Janairo, the founder of Sustainable Strategic, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s personal. A long-time eco-conscious consumer and graduate of the Asian Institute of Management, Janairo shared that his experience in business school shaped his belief that sustainability must be central to modern business.
“Consumers today are more informed than ever. I believe this is the perfect time to introduce products that are both purposeful and sustainable,” Janairo said.
His introduction to Champion Bags came in late 2023, through a meeting with a retail partner who had witnessed the brand’s success in Thailand. Seeing the urgent need for better waste solutions in the Philippines, Janairo stepped up to make Champion Bags accessible to Filipino consumers.
By July 2024, Janairo’s Singapore-based company Sustainable Strategic secured regional distribution rights for Champion Bags—setting the stage for the brand’s official Philippine launch in May 2025.
What Makes Champion Bags Different?
While many products in the market claim to be eco-friendly, not all solutions are created equal. Most “green” trash bags today are made with oxo-degradable plastics, which were once considered sustainable. However, these materials break down into microplastics, which can pollute oceans, damage ecosystems, and even end up in our food.
That’s why countries like the European Union and Canada have banned oxo-degradable plastics since 2021 and 2024, respectively.
Champion Bags offers a smarter, more sustainable alternative by embracing recycled plastic and aligning with circular economy principles—without requiring specialized composting or waste facilities that are not yet widespread in the Philippines.
Champion Bags: Smart, Strong, and Sustainable
Here’s why Champion Bags stands out:
- ♻️ Made from Recycled Plastic – Keeps plastic waste out of landfills and oceans by giving it a new life.
- 💪 Stronger & More Durable – Designed for everyday use, these bags won’t easily tear like some biodegradable alternatives.
- 🕒 Ready to Use, No Special Processing Required – Works within the current landfill-based waste system in the country.
- 🌸 Comes in Scented & Unscented Variants – Available in Strawberry, Apple, Lavender, and Fragrance-Free options.
“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned about sustainability is that it has to fit the market’s real-life conditions,” Janairo adds. “We can’t wait for large-scale infrastructure changes. We need solutions that work now—within our current system.”
Join the Movement: #BagABetterFuture
Champion Bags goes beyond being just another household product. It’s part of a larger movement to make sustainability more accessible, actionable, and impactful for everyday Filipinos.
