5 Ways to do to Improve your Memory
Some moms will agree with me that we become forgetful after giving birth. Some people says it’s because of the anesthesia or it’s just a normal thing according to others. The good news is that there are steps that we can take to keep our brain healthy and our memory strong.
Here are five ways to improve our memory now.
Regular Exercise
There are studies that people who exercise often have a lower risk of memory loss and dementia. It is recommended that getting at least a 30 minutes exercise can boosts the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain and produces growth hormones that increase its network of blood vessels. And anything that keeps the brain growing as we age is a very good thing. Isnt’ it right?
Play Games to Challenge your Brain
Just like physical exercise, you should also exercise the muscles of your brain. There are a lot of games online that you can play to help you exercise your brain. Personally, I tried these games from solitaire.com. They have a lot of games to choose from like puzzles , word games, match games and a lot more.
I love the puzzle games, it challenges me to use my brain. You can even choose from Easy, Medium or Hard. Of course the harder the game, the better for your brain. Any brain exercise is better than just scrolling over your social media accounts often.
Follow a Healthy Diet
According to Mayo Clinic, to improve your memory, your diet should be rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes, fish, healthier fats and herbs or seeds. These foods have been found to contain antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids that benefit the cardiovascular system and the brain. Plus don’t forget to drink plenty of water, which benefits brain health. It is advisable to drink at least 8 cups of water a day or 2 liters.
Socialize regularly
You don’t really need to social interact face to face (though it’s better), you may do this via zoom or just chat. This will helps ward off depression and stress, both of which can contribute to memory loss. If you lived alone, always talk to friends, relatives, neighbors and loved ones.
Sleep well
Getting at least 6-8 hrs sleep is good for your health and brain. You should make getting enough sleep a priority. Sleep plays an important role in helping you consolidate your memories, so you can recall them down the road.
