Note to Self: Please take good care of your kids!
I agree with this word from Kay Redfield Jamison (Contemporary American professor of psychiatry). Innocent kids should have time to play and enjoy life.
But unfortunately, I have heard a lot of tragic incidents lately involving children aged 2 years old and above. There are no safe places now, even at the comfort of your own home, bad things may happen. I heard little kids being raped by a member of her own blood, a little boy being molested and some were gang raped by kids that are also still minors. Some were kidnapped and reported killed and used for drug trafficking.
Recently I heard that a 4 years old boy was found decapitated and disemboweled in Barangay Malaya, Pililla, Rizal. This place is my husband’s hometown. The news said that the 4 years old boy was just playing near their house and according to the report he was found dead in a creek about 150 meters away from their home. Police think that the child may have slipped and fell down and it is possible that the boy died from the fall and was later eaten by lizards or other animals. source: newsinfo.inquirer.net/
This tragic event happened because no one was looking after the boy. I don’t want to judge his parents but I remember my husband always tells me that when something bad happens in real life you cannot just restart it anymore just like any video games.
When I was a child, I have live in an environment where kids were just allowed outside by their parents to play and enjoy life. I can’t deny the fact that I want my son to feel and experience the thrill, adventure and happiness that I have experienced in my youth.
But the world have changed.
I can’t imagine losing him because of being calm that he will be alright. I would not forgive myself if something will happen to him because I wasn’t there.
The tragic things that happened to some kids gave me a lesson, and I will never ever let those things happen to my son as long as I am alive.
I am praying for the souls of the kids who was taken at a very young age, and may peace be with those kids who also experienced trerrible things at a very young age.
