Revisiting Manila Ocean Park

Last weekend, our family decided to go out to visit Luneta Park and Manila Ocean Park.

It’s been 9 years since we last went to this place. Ren just turned 4 years old at that time. Check out my previous post HERE

We availed of the City Garden Suites Manila Ocean Park’s Package with 12 attractions.

What’s nice when you have this kind of package is that you don’t need to fall in line to get your tickets, you can go straight to the reservation area inside Manila Ocean Park, present your ID and there you’ll get your passes. The line was long when we arrived so this saved us from the hassle.

We arrived before 11am which is just the perfect time because the Sea Lion show is about to start. This was our first stop.

We enjoyed the tricks of these 2 sea lions and we had fun watching them. I will put our video here once we are done editing it.

After the show, almost everyone who watched it went to Oceanarium. The line was long, so we decided to go to Super Toys Collection first. It’s unfortunate that we were not able to see Yexels Toy Museum here when it was there before, but I’m glad that they put another attraction that is related to toys.

The Super Toys Collection area is spacious but they only focus on the DC Superhero – SUPERMAN. They have some Instagrammable areas and there is a play area for kids (with additional cost of P150 and that includes coffee for adult). I like that the area is well lit and overlooking Manila Bay. It’s a nice place for adults to relax while the kids are busy going to the slide and playing with balls.

Beside the Super Toys area is the Creepy Crawlies. We skipped it at first because Ren said that he’s afraid of crawling creatures. That’s why we went to Oceanarium instead.

Oceanarium is the main attraction of Manila Ocean Park. This view will welcome you upon entering. I’m glad that compared to the first time we went here; we can take pictures with no photobombed already. Mas kunti ang tao kasi (I don’t know though if it’s always like that). If you want to go there and looking for affordable place for accommodation, you have to use any Cheap Hotels App for searching and booking affordable hotels.

Then there was this tunnel made out of an aquarium and where different kinds of fishes can freely move and transfer from one area to another. As far as I can remember, it looks like there were more fishes here back then compared to now.

If you will avail the scuba diving experience, this is where you’ll do it too. We saw some scuba divers inside the tunnel.

The school of huge fish is what I liked the most here. Ang ganda lang nung kung asan ang isa, andon lahat sila.

Then we went to the Trails to Antarctica. My son loves maps and geography of the world so this area fascinates him.

He loves the Happy Feet Movie and this area is almost the same as that on the movie. I hope the penguins are treated well and I wish the area they are into is really cold.

We had our late lunch after visiting this place. There are a lot of restaurants inside Manila Ocean Park but I hope they will improve the look and service of some of the not-known areas. The first restaurant we went to has a service time of 40 minutes while the next area doesn’t have rice to serve.

I also noticed that there are some stalls that sells fake items inside 🙁

After eating our lunch, we went outside again to watch the next scheduled show – theAll Star Bird Show.

Various kind of birds showcased their talent in doing some tricks that you won’t believe they can do. Like answering a math question.

After the show, we went to the Birds of Prey Kingdom. Do not expect much in this area. Don’t be fooled by the word “kingdom” on the name haha. This is just a small area where you can take pictures with the birds.

There were only 3 areas to visit after this, we asked Ren again if he wants to go to the World of Creepy Crawlies. We told him to face his fear and we are with him naman. Surprisingly he said yes!

Besides the Oceanarium, I think this area is one of the best attractions here in Manila Ocean Park. I suggest not to miss this area, this is way better than the Trails of Antarctica and Birds of Prey Kingdom.

I asked Ren afterwards for his reaction of the place, he said that he felt brave for facing his fear and he got to see what kind of frogs are poisonous.

Our last destination was located outside the building – The Barnyard and The Birdhouse.

There’s nothing much to see here also, just rabbits, hens and roasters, ducks and hamsters. But there is a play area for kids in this area plus a small store for drinks and snacks before entering.

The Birhouse is located at the 2nd floor of The Barnyard and only a few birds can be seen here.

We did not wait for the Neon Rides and the Symphony Evening Show because we want to go to the City Garden Suites already and relax.

Overall, I can say that Manila Ocean Park is a nice place to visit with kids and for them to see personally some of the animals and insects that they only see in TV.
