My thoughts on the Vicks #TouchOfCare Campaign

When I watched the latest video campaign of Vicks, I can’t help myself but to shed some tears. One of the scenes that touched me was when Agnes (the mom) said that “I hope someday you can go to school and have a normal life”. It touched my heart because as you all know, I have a special son and one of my worries since he was still a toddler was if he will ever live a normal life someday and be able to do things on his own (same thing as Agnes mentioned in the video). I also worried who will take care of him if my husband and I will die early. I know my family will be willing to take care of him, but still I don’t know how will they raise him the way I do.

Fast forward to now, I thank God that we are still alive and my son is doing well.  As his parents, we are doing our best to teach him all the life skills that we know he will need as he gets older and I’m now confident to say that he will have a normal life in the future.

A lot of my social media followers were touched by the latest Vicks #TouchOfCare Campaign. In the video, it shows us that one can be a mother and show love and care even if they are not related by blood.

When I posted this video on my Facebook account, I mentioned about my own story on how I showed #TouchOfCare to my niece and nephew. My brother is an OFW and just bought a house near our place (I’m so happy they did). I know it’s hard to be a do-it-all mom, that’s why if I can, I lend a helping hand to my sister-in-law in taking care of her kids.

I know how important to have a support group to keep your sanity because I experienced having one when my son was still young. I’m lucky back then that I have my mom, my husband and other people around me when I gave birth to my son.

I wish that more people will be like Agnes and it should start within us.
