Corazon Aquino died at the age of 76
Our former president Corazon Aquino passed away at 3:00 AM today (August 1, 2009).
Corazon Aquino was known as an icon of Philippine democracy after the EDSA ‘People Power’ revolution removed the Marcos dictatorship and restored democracy in the Southeast Asian archipelago in 1986.
Last March 2008 the family announced that Cory Aquino has a colon cancer. Various healing masses had been held in different parts of the country after she was confined at the Makati Medical Center starting June 25. Thousands attended the masses praying that one of of the world’s democracy icons would recover. Prayers and get-well messages were also posted on her website, coryaquino.ph
Her son, Senator Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III, confirmed that the former leader’s cancer had already spread to her liver.
“Her weakened condition does not allow chemotherapy. We have reached the point where you’re not sure if the intervention will help or worsen the condition,” he told reporters.
Last week, her supporters tied yellow ribbons along Times St. and Examiner St. in Quezon City near Mrs. Aquino’s residence, and also outside the Makati Medical Center, symbolizing hope and prayers for her recovery and as a show of support for Philippine democracy.
I think she’d just waited for the month of August, because her husband Ninoy Aquino also died at the same month (August 21). She is the only President in our country who have a clean record.
This Prayer was made by the former President entitled “Prayer for a happy death”
Almighty God, most merciful Father
You alone know the time
you alone know the hour
When I shall breathe my last.
So, remind me each day, most loving Father
To be the best that I can be.
To be humble, to be kind,
To be patient, to be true.
To embrace what is good,
To reject what is evil,
To adore only You.
When the final moment does come
Let not my loved ones grieve for long.
Let them comfort each other
And let them know
how much happiness
They brought into my life.
Let them pray for me,
As I will continue to pray for them,
Hoping that they will always pray
for each other.
Let them know that they made possible
Whatever good I offered to our world.
Is just for a short while
As we prepare for our reunion in eternity.
Our Father in heaven,
You alone are my hope.
You alone are my salvation.
Thank you for your unconditional love.
And this was Jose Mari Chan lyrics of the song “I have fallen in love with the woman I love three times”, this was a poem by Ninoy Aquino to her wife that made into song.
I have fallen in love
With the same woman three times
In a day spanning nineteen years
Of tearful joys and joyful tears.
I loved her first when she was young
Enchanting and vibrant, eternally new
She was brilliant, fragrant and cool as the morning dew
I fell in love with her the second time
When first she bore her child and mine
She’s always by my side, the source of my strength
Helping to turn the tide…
I fell in love again with the same woman the third time
Looming from the battle her courage will never fade.
Amidst the hardships she has remained
Undaunted and unafraid
She is calm and composed. She is God’s lovely maid.
This is my first time to hear this song, and I love it so much.
Our condolences to Aquino’s family.
